Alex's POV;
"Alex" Her ex replies, as she sees his jaw stiffen and eyes widen.
Alex felt herself sober up almost instantly at the sight of the man. He looked incredibly different from their last encounter. His bright eyes were now sunken & dull, his cheeks looked more hollow, and his body was slightly less toned in the matter of only a few weeks. Alex didn't think that the man would take the break up this roughly, and a part of her felt awful knowing this was her doing.
"How- how've you been?" He struggles to ask, fidgeting nervously in his black suit.
"I've been good, how about you?" She asks, anxious to hear his response.
"I've seen better days, but I'm just living from day to day. I'm planning to retire soon, actually" He confesses, as one of his friends whisper something in his ear.
Alex is stunned to hear about the man's plan to retire, but she knew Servando's love for soccer was never as strong as hers & she's hopeful he can move onto a better chapter in his life.
"You look good Alex, really, really, good" He says, eyeing Alex from head to toe repeatedly.
Alex blushes at his compliment but isn't sure how to respond to it.
"Uh, thanks Serv," She begins nervously, "Thank you for keeping the split quiet, by the way" The striker continues. And receives a small nod from the older man.
Alex feels an arm around her waist & knows immediately it's Tobin's. She relaxes the minute she feels the contact, but stiffens up again, remembering Servando and Tobin's fight at the coffee shop.
"Hey Tobin" He says, examining the midfielder with squinted eyes.
"Hi Serv, I just want to say that I'm sor-" She begins but, is interrupted by Servando.
"Save it. I don't need, nor do I want an apology. You've basically ruined my life and it'll take alot more than an 'I'm sorry' to fix what I've been through. I love her, I'm in love with her. And you couldn't possibly understand, how it feels to want someone you can't have" He rebuts, growing more visibly upset with every word that leaves his lips.
Alex can tell this is going to erupt into something that it shouldn't and she looks over at Tobin searching for answers in the midfielder's expression.
"Tobin, please. Let's just leave" Alex begs, pulling Tobin closer to her.
Tobin obviously ignores her plead and wiggles out of the strikers grasp. "You think I don't know how it feels Servando? I was in love with Alex since the day I met her and I had to sit back and act happy when she was with you, or when she talked about you. For years! Not a few weeks, but years. You've had a small taste of how I've felt forever & it sucks doesn't it?" The older girl yells as Alex grows anxious.
"Tobin," She tries to say, but Tobin just shakes her head.
"No Alex, stop. You can't make everything right all the time!" Tobin shoots and the striker is shocked at the older girl's sudden rage.
"Hey, don't talk to her like that" Servando commands, grabbing Alex's hand in his larger one.
Alex immediately pulls away from the man's grasp.
"Both of you quit!" Alex yells suddenly, placing herself between the 2.
"Alex, I love you" Servando pleas, staring into her eyes.
"Stop, stop it" The striker says, closing her eyes tightly.
"Do you love me?" He asks her, grabbing her hand again, this time more gently & less harshly.
