Alex's POV;
It had been 6 days since Alex's knee tore and she was fully aware of the risks of not following through with the recommended procedure, but she decided that waiting out this surgery would have to do. Her knee felt fine for the time being, and practice seemed as normal as ever. She had no fatigue, additional pain, or discomfort from it.
Although things were going smoothly with her knee, the same can't be said with her and Tobin.
After their talk about taking a small break, and after their intense love making session, things seemed incredibly awkward. At practice, Alex looked to Tobin to partner up, but the midfielder had already gotten together with Kelley. When they ran laps, instead of running beside each other, they ran yards apart. Alex didn't want them to drift apart completely, she wanted things to be more subtle.
But the oddest part of the whole circumstance, was Tobin's shifted demeanor.
Whenever the two were alone, the older girl couldn't keep her hands off Alex. Sure, don't get her wrong, Alex loved making love to Tobin. But 4 or 5 times a day was way too much for the younger girl.
It was as though the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional portion of their relationship was replaced by strictly physical attributes.
Whenever they were alone in their hotel room, they wouldn't talk. Alex would try to initiate conversation, and Tobin would twist it in some way to get into the striker's pants.
She desired the joking around, the friendship aspect of their relationship. She missed having Tobin around to do spontaneous things (outside of the bedroom) with.
"Have you seen my t-shirt with the little fish on it?" Tobin asks, throwing things from the drawers infront of her.
"Yeah, I'm wearing it" Alex says from the small table she's perched at reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
"Oh," Tobin turns to look at her. "Can you take it off, I really wanted to wear it"
Alex sets her book down and takes her shirt off, leaving her in only a sports bra, she tosses it to Tobin.
The shirt lands over the older girl's face and she takes her own shirt off to slide into it.
"Thanks" Tobin responds, sitting down across from Alex now.
Alex returns to her reading and occasionally glances at the now distant girl across the table.
Her hair was tied loosely into a bun at the top of her head. She was wearing her glasses today, which she rarely did. Alex always loved it when she wore them though. She opened up the laptop infront of her and focused closely on whatever was on the screen. Occasionally glancing at Alex. Whenever Alex caught her looking, she'd turn away quickly.
"Tobin" Alex sighs, having had enough of the uncomfortable cloud looming above them.
The striker sets her book down, "Hmm?" Tobin hums, not looking up from the computer.
"What are we doing?" Alex asks her, and Tobin glances up for a second, fixes her glasses, and looks back down.
"Well, uh you're reading something and I'm shopping online for new cleats" The older girl continues to focus on the screen.
"That's not what I mean" The striker responds, a bit harshly.
Tobin looks up at her with a furrowed expression, and reburies her face into the laptop.
Frustration and confusion brewed unsettlingly inside of the younger girl at Tobin's actions.
Without thinking twice, Alex grabs the Macbook and throws it on the ground in rage. Small pieces scatter wildly across the floor as Tobin sits there, unphased by what the striker just did.
