Tobin's POV;
Tobin leaned against the door frame, examining her girlfriend who laid sprawled out in the all white bed sheets. Her light brown locks lay carelessly across the pillows, her bright blue orbs hidden behind her long, dark eyelashes. Alex's now tanned skin provided a perfect contrast to the pure sheets she lays on. Tobin stood there for God knows how long just examining the striker, taking in every feature the younger girl possessed, analyzing them all closely. She often reflected upon her girlfriend's beauty, but especially when Alex was sleeping. She looked so pure, innocent, and untouched by the harmful effects of life. Tobin liked to think she could shield Alex from everything negative, and that the striker would never have to face anything even remotely unpleasant in life. As much as Tobin liked to think this, she knew it wasn't possible.
The mental image of Alex, now engraved in Tobin's head, caused her to recall a certain day about a year ago.
*Flashback*
"Tobin," Alex's gravely voice began. "What's wrong?"
Tobin had to turn away from the beautiful girl, because she knew that looking at her for a second longer could make her do something she would regret.
"No-nothing, I'm fine" Tobin barely manages to get out. Her hands gripping the edge of the dresser in front of her so tightly that her knuckles are white.
It wasn't uncommon for the midfielder to get the overwhelming desire to be inappropriately close to her bestfriend, but sometimes it became too much to bare and she had to remove herself from certain situations to refrain from, for lack of a better phrase, jumping Alex's bones.
"You know you can talk to me about anything, right Tobin?" Alex's voice is light and tranquil. Tobin feels as though she might burst at hearing Alex simply say her name in that delicate tone.
"I know, and if anything was wrong, I would tell you. I'm just nervous for tomorrow's game, that's all" Tobin lies, turning around to face the striker and immediately regretting that decision.
Alex was sprawled out on her side, her head propped up on her hand that rested on her elbow. She eyed Tobin with a look in her eyes that the older girl couldn't explain. At times, the midfielder wondered if the younger girl felt the same tension between them as Tobin did.
Alex looked like a goddess, plain and simple. The white bedding draped over her golden skin was driving Tobin crazy.
Suddenly, Alex got up from the bed, and slowly moved closer to the older girl. The space between them slowly growing smaller.
Tobin trembles slightly as Alex places a hand on her cheek.
"Tobin, can I ask you something?" Her eyes locked tightly with the older girl's.
"Yes, anything" Tobin can feel the pit in her stomach grow with every passing second of silence.
Alex's hand vacates Tobin's cheek and the midfielder feels as though she can breathe again. Until the same hand grabs Tobin's in her own.
"Do you want to kiss me?" Alex whispers, playing with Tobin's fingers.
Tobin can feel the room spinning and she knows the only thing keeping her stable is Alex's hand in her own.
"I- I... what?" Tobin stutters in pure shock.
"Nevermind, it was a stupid question, I feel weird for asking it, I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable" Alex tucks a strand of hair behind her ear as she drops her gaze from Tobin's eyes, to the floor.
