Normally, Aeri wouldn't have wakened up such early in the morning but with the beads of sweat forming just by her forehead, her heart beating erratically against her chest, and her chest heaving up and down as she tried to catch her breath—in no way she was going to sleep again after catching a damn nightmare.
Her eyes flew up to the clock to check the time. 5:30 AM. The sun was just about to rise in a few minutes. She looked back at her pillow, wondering if it was a good idea to go back to sleep, though she didn't really want to catch another nightmare, and so she stood up to begin preparing for the day. Aeri wasn't really a morning person unlike some of her siblings so seeing her already awake at this hour sparked some questions.
"Don't tell me you haven't slept yet!" Jaemin exclaimed with wide eyes upon seeing the girl walk out from the bathrooms fresh into some new clothes.
Aeri scoffed, reaching for a brush to use. "Can't a girl wake up early in the morning?"
"Well, you don't typically even want to get up from bed unless it has to do with your damn matchmaking scheme." The silver-haired boy explained, cocking an eyebrow up making the girl sheepishly smile at his words. He wasn't wrong. "We're going to head out for a morning run, want to join?"
Aeri pondered for a bit before shrugging and going along with it. Nothing could go wrong with a morning run, right? That's what she thought, at least until she found out that their morning run meant literally running the whole perimeter of the camp. It wasn't even halfway when she decided that it wasn't her cup of tea, letting a few early birds pass by her as she began to walk instead of run.
She finds herself walking along the shoreline of the Fireworks Beach, watching Jaemin and a few other demigods begin to disappear into the distance. The sun was slowly rising from the horizon and Aeri gaped at the scenery. She wasn't one to wake up early so seeing the sun rising was something she rarely saw. She closed her eyes, letting herself feel the moment as the sea breeze blew past her.
"It's a surprise to see you up this early in the morning." Aeri flinched and instantly looked over her shoulder to find Sion in a black sleeveless shirt and some basketball shorts, arms crossed in front of his chest as he looked at her in amusement. The sweat on his forehead told her that he, too, was doing the morning run but unlike the others who had just begun minutes ago, Sion had already finished 2 laps around the camp.
"Why is everyone so surprised? I can wake up early too—" When Sion was about to open his mouth, the girl beat him to it, "even if it's not related to my matchmaking scheme!" She added, pointing a finger at him.
He chuckled and stepped closer to her until his shoulder was brushing against hers. He tipped his head slightly towards her, humming profusely. "So, tell me, why are you really awake this early today?"
