( 33 ) ❛ the first of two things ❜

Today was a special day, unlike the others. Yushi woke up earlier than he was supposed to, most likely due to the excitement creeping up his body. He spent the whole night making sure everything was going to be perfect. It had been a few days since he got his sling removed and now that everything was back to normal, he decided to finally take Aeri out on a date.
His mind flew back to a day ago when he asked the girl out. He could still remember the nervous jitters he got, repeating and practicing the same line over and over again in his mind to make sure that he didn't slip up or anything.
He finds himself that day by the hill they usually hang out at with Aeri's head in his lap and his back pressed against the tree trunk. As he looked down on her, he couldn't help but admire her features. Aeri had always been beautiful and today wasn't any different. He watched as her eyes flew from one leaf to another, noting the little differences as the trees rustled with the wind. Since when was she a leaf expert? He thought to himself, a smile ghosting his lips as he played with her hair. Truth be told, she didn't actually know if what she was saying made sense because the information on leaves was already at the back of her mind, she honestly just wanted to sound smart in front of the Athena kid.
"How'd you even know what type of leaf that is?" Yushi questioned softly as she took the leaf that had just fallen from the tree and began examining it.
"I read a forestry book once." She hummed before throwing the leaf, her gaze locking with Yushi. "And maybe I just wanted to sound smart in front of you." She sheepishly smiled and the boy couldn't help but pinch her cheek, letting out a loud laugh from what he had just heard.
With their gaze locked on each other and the wind blowing past them in a cool breeze, Yushi thought this was the perfect moment to ask her out on a date. Mustering up all the courage in his body, Yushi opens his mouth to speak but gets cut off when Aeri suddenly speaks, her hand reaching up to touch the side of Yushi's face. "Let's go on a date."
"Huh?" Was all Yushi could say after being stunned by her proposal. He had been practicing the same line over and over again only for Aeri to just beat him to it? And the fact that it went out of her mouth so smoothly as if she wasn't nervous at all!
"You and me—on a date, did you not hear me or something?"
"Or something..." Yushi trailed off before chuckling, shaking his head as he ran his fingers through his hair. "I was honestly going to ask you out on a date but seems like you beat me to it."
Aeri giggled, her lips tugged up into a smile as she admired Yushi's face. "I was wondering we could—"
"Mm," Yushi shook his head in disapproval, his head bending down a bit as he scrunched his nose. "Let me take you out on a date. I'll take care of everything. All you need to do is dress pretty, hmm?" He said, brushing away the stray hairs that fell over her face.
