"Avanti," I called her standing at the top of the flight of stairs. But my voice disappeared amidst the stream of people entering and exiting Vinayak Mandir.

Shaking my head at my failed attempt, I decided to climb down to reach my wife, putting another anklet in the pocket that had fallen in the temple premises. But as usual, she didn't know how it slipped out of her ankle until I noticed on my way busy following her.

Finally she turned back, reaching the end of the stairs on the road. She frustratedly spoke something, but I failed to decipher it due to the distance between us.

"So slow!" She taunted, handing over the basket consisting of pooja items to the driver.

"So careless!" I imitated her tone, drawing out the anklet from my shirt's pocket.

Realization struck her eyes and she looked down at her ankles. "I should say this to you. You were the one to gift me two hours back, so logically, that's your fault for not connecting the hooks properly." She crossed her arms waiting for my reaction.

"Ha ha, so-called investigation officer." I bursted out laughing and kissed her forehead.

I bent to put it around her ankle but she pulled away, glancing at the people on the roadside. "Garv, ham main road par hai."

(Garv, we're on the road.)

"Exactly, ham main road par hai." Ignoring the people's presence, I connected the hooks of it.

I stood back on my feet and opened the car gate for her. She slid in at the back of the driver's seat and I sat on the vacant space beside her. The engine roared to its life for our next destination -Young Care Orphan Home.

Finally, our daughter would be back to her home. We completed all the requirements needed for adoption. Hriday, Arisa, and Anubhav were back home to look after the welcome preparations. My best friend, my family and her family will reach Mumbai tonight to meet Garvita.

"Are you nervous?"

I looked at my wife, adjusting her yellow dupatta over her shoulder, and she dropped her head on my shoulder. Her hand patted my arm, providing much-needed comfort.

I nodded in response, cupping her face with my left palm. Her beautiful black eyes soften, meeting mine. "Me too. But I'm excited to meet our daughter, Garvita Chauhan."

I hummed. "But why didn't you let me include Shaktawat in her name?"

"Because I met her as our daughter through you. And, once the adoption process for Advay gets a green signal, he will continue using his original name, and coincidently, we share the same surname."
