Beep... beep... beep... beep...
Aiko's eyes opened as her senses returned to her. "She's awake... give her some room," a doctor said quietly.
A couple of figures backed up. Aiko's eyes adjusted to the light of the room, able to make out that the figures were Aizawa, Midoriya, Haru, and Recovery Girl. "You're lucky we found you when we did, young lady," Recovery Girl scolded, "You almost bled out on us."
"Sorry..." Aiko muttered.
"It's okay, problem child..." Aizawa said, putting a gentle hand on her head, "We're just lucky you're still alive."
The doctor stepped forward and explained, "Aside from the multiple puncture wounds, you received a gunshot to your midsection, puncturing your liver and other organs. Recovery Girl was able to luckily able to get you out of critical status and save your life, but she wasn't able to heal everything due to your low energy. You'll probably be in quite a bit of pain until she can heal the rest, but then you'll be good as new. Until then, we'd like to keep you here so we can watch you."
"Thank you..." Aiko whispered.
Her eyes drifted to Aizawa and Midoriya. "Eri...?"
"She's safe," Aizawa said, making Aiko sigh in relief, "But she hasn't woken up, and has a fever. She has also been quarantined due to the nature of her quirk for safety."
Aiko furrowed her brows, "What's her quirk?"
"The power to rewind. She can rewind someone to a previous state of their life. She was able to reverse the injuries I sustained from using my quirk at 100%, but she can't control it," Midoriya explained, "Her quirk is so powerful that it can rewind someone out of existence."
Aiko's eyes widened, "Holy..." she muttered.
They stayed silent for a short period while Aiko processed the information, but then she asked, "How is everyone else?"
"Your classmates are okay and will probably be able to go back to the dorms tonight," Aizawa said.
"Mirio?" Aiko asked.
Aizawa sighed, "His injuries are okay... but he was shot with a permanent version of the quirk-erasing bullet."
Aiko felt her heart drop to her stomach. "Mirio's quirkless... for good?" she asked.
Midoriya nodded.
"What about Sir Nighteye?" Aiko asked.
Both went silent. Aiko's eyes drifted to Haru as he shook his head. "He's currently staying near Mirio if you want to see him..."
"Where's Mirio?" Aiko asked.
"A couple of doors down," Midoriya answered.
Aiko tried to get up, but her whole body screamed in pain. "Here, let me," Aizawa said, grabbing a nearby wheelchair, gently picking her up, and placing her in it.
"Thanks," Aiko muttered.
Midoriya pushed Aiko's wheelchair as they all walked to Mirio's room. Mirio was smiling and acting goofy, as usual, but Aiko saw the pain in his eyes. Then, her eyes drifted to Sir Nighteye, who was sitting in a chair beside Mirio's bed with a smile on his face, only she noticed the way he was slightly transparent and flickered occasionally. "Sir..." she whispered.
Nighteye turned toward her and smiled, "Gessei... thank you dearly for keeping Mirio alive and for keeping Eri safe."
Aiko couldn't bring herself to speak, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. "I know... but it's okay. If you can't smile, then there's nothing to balance the sorrow of life," he answered.
