Chapter 50: The Last Dance

"Kento, are you seeing the news?" Yuri asked as she stared intently at her phone.

The pair were out on a lunch date before Yuri's phone began blowing up with notifications. "No, what's up?" Kento asked.

"There's a really big villain attack in Jaku City," Yuri explained, showing him her phone that showed an image of the villain attack, "And apparently there's this really big monster that's tearing through Japan to get there."

Kento was silent for a moment before his eyes widened, "Is that Endeavor? Oh god, is Aiko there?!" 

Both of them started freaking out, Kento pulling out his own phone to call Aiko. However, the call didn't go through, instead going to voice-mail. "My baby girl..." Yuri whispered in fear.

Kento swallowed the lump in his throat while he reached out and put a comforting hand on Yuri's shoulder. "Come on, this is Aiko we're talking about. She's going to be okay."

Then, however, the news site that Yuri's phone was on got hijacked, and a shirtless man with black hair who was covered in horrific burn scars appeared on the screen.

"Shoto, MOVE!" Endeavor screamed.

Both Todoroki and Aiko looked up to see Gigantomachia inches away from trampling over them to get to Shigaraki. With no time to react, Todoroki simply leaned down and held Aiko tightly in his arms, but then the feeling of cold water trickling down his spine overtook him, and he watched as Gigantomachia went straight through him. He looked down and saw that both he and Aiko were flickering, letting out a sigh of relief. "SHOTO!" Endeavor screamed.

Todoroki looked down and observed that Aiko looked incredibly drained, almost on the verge of passing out. 'Fighting AFO in her mind must have taken a lot out of her...' he thought to himself as he picked her up bridal style and carried her out of harm's way and toward his father. When Endeavor saw his son carrying Aiko both flickering slowly and silhouetted with blue light, relief flooded his veins. Aiko released her quirk and said, "I need to steal some energy from you..."

Todoroki nodded and so she took 10% of his energy, instantly perking up as he set her down near his father so that he could start cooling Endeavor off with his ice and still be able to protect her should something happen. "How are you two?" Endeavor asked.

"Fine," Todoroki said curtly, Aiko nodding.

"What was that, Spectre?" Endeavor asked.

Aiko took in a deep breath and sighed, "I tried to steal energy from Shigaraki, knowing that it would probably take me out of commission. However, All For One was much stronger than I'd anticipated. I thought that since I-" she stopped herself, deciding not to bring up how he'd tried to possess her before when she was dealing with Kurogiri, remembering that what she does with the nomus for the HPSC is confidential, "I thought I'd be able to handle him inside my head enough to get me down here to safety. I was wrong. He began fighting me for control immediately and overpowered me. How he wasn't able to possess me fully before Todoroki brought me back is a miracle that I'd likely attribute to him being in control of Shigaraki, as well as me only taking slightly less than half of his energy."

Endeavor and Todoroki nodded as Haru came running over, having done all he could to help Bakugo and handing him off to Iida to get him to safety. "Aiko! Thank god you're okay!"

Aiko smiled and hugged him tightly, ignoring a burning pain in her chest and ribs. Then, they all looked up to see villains on the back of Gigantomachia. "From up here, you all look like ants!" Dabi exclaimed as he walked toward them along Gigantomachia's back.
