Chapter 51: Consequences

"Is everything okay? Is she still stable?" a familiar voice asked.

"Yes sir, your daughter is doing alright. I promise, she's going to recover. She just needs to rest," Recovery Girl reassured.

Aiko slowly opened her eyes to see her parents, her cousin, and Haru surrounding her. 'I'm in a hospital...? What happened?' she thought to herself before the memories of the battle crashed through her mind. She gasped and tried to sit up, the heart monitor beeping faster and faster. "Aiko!" her parents exclaimed while Aiko tried to leave her bed. 

"How is everybody?! Are they okay? Where's Todoroki? And Bakugo? And Midoriya???" Aiko asked in a panic, "Is Aizawa okay?!"

"Calm down, please," Recovery Girl said as she approached, "Please calm down."

"Is everyone alright?!" Aiko asked once again, her heart rate skyrocketing, "They're still alive, right?!"

"Your classmates and teacher are all alive, now please, calm down," Recovery Girl stated calmly.

Aiko took a look around the room before she took a deep breath and tried to calm down. "You have some 2nd and 3rd degree burns caused by the villain, Dabi. You also have some cracked ribs from the fall that the others reported," Recovery Girl stated, "Out of everyone, your injuries were luckily mild, but I haven't been able to heal any of them yet due to you using all the energy you had out there. One more day and I'll heal you fully."

Aiko nodded and watched as Recovery Girl walked out of the room. "How are you feeling, kiddo?" Aiko's dad asked.

"I... I'm okay," she lied.

"Aiko, honey... what happened out there?" Aiko's mom asked.

Aiko took in a deep breath and sighed. "The villains... they were planning something big. We tried to stop it before they could act on their plan... but..." Aiko stopped and they nodded.

"It's ok. We did everything we could," Haru reassured.

"We know that. I was asking what happened to you, honey," Aiko's mom said as she looked back at her dad, "Mirio told us what happened after he got there, but he apparently got there near the end of the battle."

Aiko nodded and said, "Well... one of my friends, Midoriya... he was in danger and being targeted by Shigaraki. So me and Bakugo went with him while he tried to run... the villain found us though, and that's when Aizawa..." Aiko paused and took a deep breath, pushing down her guilt, "We um... we fought Shigaraki to keep him at bay... but I made a stupid decision after Bakugo got hurt really bad... and that led to me getting hurt and Todoroki having to save me. Then Dabi came and tried to kill him, so I had to save him and got burnt in the process."

Aiko's parents nodded as Mirio smiled and said, "All that matters is that you did your best and that you're okay."

"How is everyone else?" Aiko asked.

Mirio walked forward and said, "Todoroki is covered in severe burns, including inside his throat, but he'll heal. Aizawa lost both his right eye and left leg. Bakugo is-"

Then, a commotion was heard outside the room. "GHOST FACE!" the exclamation echoed through the walls before the door was slammed open, "I swear to god if you don't wake up I-"

Bakugo stopped in his tracks to see Aiko awake and surrounded by her family. His eye twitched as relief etched its way onto his features. "Those damn extras told me you hadn't woken up yet," he growled. 

"Bakugo..." Aiko whispered as tears came to her eyes as flashbacks of what happened to him replayed through her mind.

Before anyone in the room could stop her, Aiko was rushing out of the bed to hug Bakugo tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I thought you were going to die," she choked out between sobs.
