Chapter 49: Possession

Is there anything worse than knowing what's going to happen, trying your best to stop it, and still failing?

To Aiko, there's no worse feeling in the world.

Watching the permanent quirk-erasing bullet pierce Aizawa's leg made her world come crashing down. And when Aizawa reached down and pulled out a blade, slicing through his own leg to keep the contents of that drug from spreading through his body, tears couldn't help but fall from her eyes. With her and the heroes around her having their guard down from the shock of what happened, Shigaraki was able to use a shockwave to break free of the heroes restraining him. He bolted toward Aizawa and was able to dig his fingers into Aizawa's face and right eye. Aiko screamed out, "Eraser!" while running toward her teacher.

Midoriya then used Black Whip to pull Shigaraki away as Aiko went to Aizawa's side. His face was bleeding horribly, as was his leg. "If we don't stop the bleeding, he's going to die!" Aiko cried as she dug through her utility belt, pulling out all of her healing equipment as Haru created a tourniquet to keep Aizawa from bleeding out due to his leg. 

Aiko applied the medicine as a surprise blast of ice blew Shigaraki out of the air. Todoroki arrived on the scene to see what had happened as everyone realized that Aizawa, due to his intense injuries, had closed his eyes, meaning that Shigaraki once again had full control of his quirk. Aiko continued tending to Aizawa's wounds while Rock Lock looked at Midoriya and said, "If he's after you, you need to go."

But Midoriya was enraged and wasn't willing to listen, his anger emanating beyond his body. "Midoriya...? You know, you're really scary when you're mad..." Haru remarked, trying to lighten the mood just a hair.

Aiko nodded slightly before Shigaraki announced that it was time for them all to die as he laughed, but before anything could happen, his chest burst out with blood. 'His body isn't ready yet... that's why this mission was rushed! Shigaraki was maturing into All For One and wasn't ready yet! If they'd have let him get to full power, we surely would be dead by now,' Aiko realized as Rock Lock turned to her and said, "You. You can copy quirks right? Copy Eraser's so we can keep this psycho from killing everybody!"

Aiko looked down before shaking her head. "I need to take his energy in order to take his quirk, but he's so injured that all his energy is being used up just keeping himself alive! If I took even a tiny bit, he might die!" Aiko exclaimed.

Everybody grimaced, not liking the idea. However, their thoughts were then stripped away when Shigaraki regenerated his wound and reached down to use Decay on the ground. Midoriya acted swiftly, using Black Whip to grab everyone around and force them off the ground. 'Float!' Aiko thought to herself with a slight smile as the visage of Nana Shimura became clear beside him.

Midoriya then used Black Whip to grab ahold of Shigaraki and pull him close, exclaiming, "I'm going to finish you with everything I have!"

Then, Midoriya set all the heroes down as Aiko exclaimed, "Deku, you have to get away! With Eraser unconscious, you could have your quirk stolen!"

"I'm the only one who can keep Shigaraki off the ground!" Midoriya exclaimed.

Aiko grit her teeth. 'No the hell he isn't!' she thought to herself, looking back at Haru and saying, "Take good care of Aizawa and Grand Torino. Make sure they don't die."

Haru nodded before Aiko propelled herself into the air, grabbing Shigaraki with Black Whip as well. "Spectre, what are you doing?!" Midoriya asked fearfully.

"You aren't the only one who can do this! I can help!" Aiko exclaimed as she slammed her fist into Shigaraki's side where his wound just was.

Midoriya hesitated for a moment before he nodded, watching as Shigaraki completely failed to attack Aiko due to her turning incorporeal. Internally, he was grateful for the help, especially from someone who had many ways to avoid getting injured or losing her quirk in this instance. Just knowing that made him feel a bit more confident as he continued to attack with Aiko. Both exchanged who was attacking, making sure that Aiko was the one in front when Shigaraki went on the offensive, seeing as how she was able to completely phase through his attacks.
