Chapter 41: Interviews and Presents

Aiko and Haru were both horrified and trying desperately not to laugh while Bakugo and Todoroki were being interviewed by a reporter for taking down a villain not 30 minutes after finally earning their provisional licenses. Bakugo was screaming about him and Todoroki not being friends after the other had stated that they were when Aiko finally snapped and started laughing. The attention turned to her, and before she knew it, Bakugo and Todoroki also turned to look at her. Bakugo felt a fuse blow as he ran after her, chasing her. "You laughing at me, Ghost Face?! I'll give you something to laugh about!" 

The reporters seemed baffled by the situation, and when the video was released, they only showed Todoroki and his calm answers. This, however, led to a new exercise that the school wanted the class to do, inviting Mt. Lady to conduct it.

Aiko watched Bakugo absolutely tweak and Todoroki be incredibly blunt and a little thick. Mina and Kirishima did rather well for the interviews, while Midoriya was a scared little block of nerves. However, when Black Whip got mentioned, Midoriya confidently was able to control a tiny little portion of it. 'Life's been busy while I've been practicing with multiple quirks to help teach others how to use them,' Aiko thought to herself as she recalled her first conversation with Black Whip's user when she tried to steal his energy exclusively.

"Absolutely not! How are you able to see me anyway?" the man asked.

"It's my quirk, I can see spirits," Aiko answered, "I want to borrow your energy and quirk learn how to use your quirk safely."

"And why would I do that?!" he exclaimed.

"Because Midoriya needs help. It'll be a lot faster if I help teach him to control it. Don't you want him to succeed?" Aiko asked.

The man huffed for a moment, glancing back down at Midoriya. "Fine! Just give it back when you're done!"

'First Eri, now Midoriya. I like helping people, but this is starting to be overwhelming,' Aiko thought as she was being called up to the makeshift stage.

She was broken from her thoughts and nerves flooded her body. "You can do it, Aiko!" Haru cheered as Aiko walked on stage beside Mt. Lady.

"So, who are you?" Mt. Lady asked.

Her face went pale as she scanned the crowd, not a fan of being put on the spot. Then, however, her eyes locked with Bakugo's. He gave her a challenging glare, which surprisingly filled her with confidence. A smile graced her face as she said, "I'm the Paranormal Hero: Spectre!"

"Mysterious! Now tell me a little bit about yourself. What kind of hero do you want to be?" Mt. Lady asked.

Aiko thought about it for a moment, combining everything she'd felt since becoming a hero student. "I want to be the kind of hero that brings smiles to those who have lost their reasons to smile," she looked at Midoriya and Haru, "Whether through providing closure and comfort to those who have lost," then she looked at Aizawa and thought of Eri, "Or rescuing and comforting those who have been hurt," then she looked to All Might, her whole reason for pursuing heroics in the first place, "And I also want to make sure that people can make it home at the end of the day, so that they can return to their loved ones safely."

Everyone was silent. Mt. Lady was the first to speak, "While that was a noble response, it was rather wordy and a little too serious. You have to be more charismatic with the crowd if you ever want to rank highly."

Aiko considered her words and nodded, leaving the stage. "Good job, Gessei," Todoroki said with a nod.

"Eh, you sound like the dumb nerd," Bakugo grumbled, "Been spending too much time with stupid Deku."
