After twisting and turning the whole night, I decided to get up and get ready for the day, but I got distracted when I heard noises downstairs.
I opened the door, and my eyes met Lucas downstairs with two knives at his throat, held by a nonchalant Maddie and Grace. They must've heard the door open because they all looked in my direction. Maddie and Grace gave me guilty but smug smiles, while Lucas looked done with his life. So, just the usual. I rolled my eyes, exhaled loudly, and shut the door behind me. It's too early for this nonsense.
I entered the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror, but my eyes got stuck on his clothes—his humongous shirt covering my knees and his shorts barely visible. My mind went back to last night, to him.
Flashback.
I stepped out of the bathroom, tugging at the hem of his oversized shirt. It practically swallowed me whole, the fabric brushing against my knees. His shorts were hidden somewhere beneath, leaving me feeling both ridiculous and oddly... comfortable. But I couldn't sleep in jeans, so this would just have to do.
I caught his eyes on me the second I entered the room. He froze, his phone halfway to the nightstand, his face instantly turning a shade of pink I didn't think was possible.
He tried to look away, but it was too late—I'd seen it.Is he blushing? I raised an eyebrow.
"Um, nothing, I just wanted to ask if you needed anything," he asked, looking away, his tongue poking his cheek. Hot.
He rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze darting everywhere but at me."No, I don't need anything. Thank you."
For a moment, neither of us spoke. I watched as he fidgeted with his phone, which ended up falling. He picked it up, smiling awkwardly."I—I'm sorry for disturbing you."
"What? No. I've said this before, Lucas, you can never disturb me."
I nodded.
"I'm gonna go now."I nodded again, even though I didn't want him to, and I knew he didn't want to either, judging by how he was trying to delay it.
"I'm gonna go now. You can call me if you need anything," he repeated.
I nodded once more. With one last look at my clothes, he left.
Over.Even now, standing here alone, I can still see that look in his eyes.
I looked up in the mirror, only to realize that I, too, was blushing, my whole face red. I quickly took a shower, changed back into my own clothes, and went downstairs before they decided to kill poor Lucas.
