"Well, that was a lot of talking for nothing," Lucas says, opening the door for me to step out of the meeting room.
"Yep. An hour of my life I’ll never get back," I reply, fixing my blazer on my shoulders.
"You were barely paying attention," he points out, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, he was just wasting our time. 'You'll be staying in a hotel.' Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. I thought I was going to live in a bush," I say, rolling my eyes.

"Dumbass."

Lucas laughs at that, and I bite my lip, trying not to smile. "Ivyyyy."

We’re halfway down the hallway when Eli suddenly appears out of nowhere, jogging to catch up. Lucas lets out a dramatic groan.
"Of course, you’d show up now," I say.
"What? Missed me already?" Eli teases, grinning as he falls into step next to me.

"Yeah, like I miss headaches," I reply, shoving my hands in my pockets.
Eli laughs, completely unfazed. "Good thing I’m coming on the trip with you two. Gotta keep things lively."

"Wait, what?" Lucas says, pissed, staring at him.

"Surprise!" Eli says, spreading his arms like he’s just announced a party.

Lucas gives him a mock glare. "Why do I feel like this wasn’t in the original plan?"
"Relax," Eli says, throwing an arm around both of our shoulders. "I’m here to help, not ruin things."

"Sure," Lucas says dryly. "You’re like that extra suitcase nobody packed but somehow ends up in the car."

"Hey!" Eli protests, but he’s grinning. "At least I’m the fun suitcase."

"This month just keeps getting better," I mutter, shaking my head as I walk out, leaving those two children inside. I know they’re following me by their footsteps.

"Hey, I’ll have you know I’m a great travel buddy," Eli argues, jabbing Lucas lightly in the side. "And Ivy loves having me around, right?"
I roll my eyes but can’t help the smile. "Don’t worry, Eli. I’ll take care of everything," he promises dramatically. "Sure, pineapples."
"Hey, don’t call me that. And Lucas can just—"
"Not murder you before the month’s over?" Lucas finishes with a smirk.

"Exactly!" Eli replies, completely serious, before giving me a wink.
I shake my head, walking ahead. "I’m already regretting this trip, and we haven’t even left yet."

"Aw, come on, Ivy!" Eli calls after me. "It’ll be fun! You’ve got the dream team now!"
"Dream team?" Lucas mutters. "More like a suicide squad."

"Hey, Brokly99, I love that show," Lucas says, shaking his head and turning towards his car while I do the same. I feel a hand on my wrist.
"What now, Eli?"

"I see you’re still pining over Mr. Perfectly Fine over there."

"I’m not pining for anyone. I’m just here to do my work," I smirk at that.
"And I’m here to do mine. I’ll help you make him jealous," he says, smiling evilly.
"What?"
