The 26th Semiconductor Exhibition, SEDEX 2024, was held at COEX over three days from the 23rd to the 25th. Under the theme "Fusion of AI Semiconductor and Advanced Packaging Technology," the event featured 280 companies and 700 booths showcasing cutting-edge developments in the semiconductor industry.

Seminars and Workshops
On the opening day, the "Semiconductor Market Outlook Seminar" provided insights into market trends, technologies, and semiconductor policies of key nations.
Over two days (23rd-24th), the Korean Institute of Electronics Engineers hosted the Semiconductor Industry-Academia-Research Exchange Workshop, which discussed topics ranging from AI semiconductor design and foundry technology trends to memory and packaging innovations.
Other notable events included the Semiconductor Environment & Safety Policy Seminar, the Korea-Canada Semiconductor Innovation Forum, and the Advanced Packaging R&D International Conference. Exhibits by Leading Companies
Major domestic players showcased advanced technologies. Samsung Electronics unveiled AI-driven memory and storage solutions such as the HBM3E, LPDDR5X, and CMM-D/H, along with flagship ISOCELL image sensors and AI turnkey solutions in foundry technology.

Quanta Materials' Participation

Quanta Materials CEO Kwon Joon-beom introduced the company's flagship product, gallium oxide powder. Designed for applications like IGZO target materials, the product boasts a uniform microstructure, high productivity, and features advantageous for power semiconductors in electric vehicles. These include high purity, superior crystallinity, low agglomeration, and ease of particle control. Kwon commented, "As demand for gallium oxide in fields like AI, robotics, and autonomous driving grows, we aim to expand our domestic and international networks while engaging directly with customers through this exhibition."

Notable participants included leading fabless companies like LX Semicon and DeepX, specializing in edge AI semiconductors; IP-focused firms such as Chips&Media and OpenEdge Technologies, which develop low-power, high-efficiency NPUs and next-generation memory semiconductor IPs. Emerging global fabless players like ADTechnology, Sapien Semiconductor, and SolidView also showcased their advancements, emphasizing the growing prominence of AI and system semiconductor technologies.

This year's SEDEX provided a comprehensive overview of Korea's semiconductor innovation and a platform to experience groundbreaking technologies shaping the future.
