There's an old poem that I like and it represents strength in the time of adversity or overwhelming odds and facing the end with full force. I found it recently and I couldn't be more ecstatic about it,I've been looking for it for years and one afternoon I find it unexpectedly. I was never one for writing poems,I just never got the hang of it of course The Girl knows how to and I think she's just surprised that I just don't. I've been more focused on writing things that are just linear I guess?......for my writing I have a no bullshit way of writing so if I think it works and it's real or it feels real, that's what I'm going to write and it works most of the time. Poetry......I do love it,I'm a romantic at heart. There is honestly not a lot of us left in this world and it feels like we are being hunted down and discouraged or worse ripped of what romance we have left in our hearts. Anyway....here's the poem I mentioned
Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.Do not go gentle into that good night.
We keep fighting until can't fight no more. We keep getting hit and keep getting back up because we don't quit,we don't take the easy way out. We survive not because we have to but because....we choose to.
