𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 (Mono X reader)

Just as we were taking the first steps into the lit doorway it slammed shut rejecting our advances. I made a noise of frustration looking over at him.
"Rude door." He chuckled slightly at my attempt at sone humor in this tense situation.

I turned away from the door, looking towards the other doors that were still shut. Mono tugged on my hand and started to lead us towards a solo door but it was also closed. I was debating why we would head towards a door that was closed when we stepped in more it creaked open inviting us to enter as the same pink ominous light spewed outwards in rays.

My eyebrows furrowed in suspicion. And as I leaned in closer to the entryway I could hear a faint sound coming from inside somewhere. Not quite telling where it was actually coming from. I couldn't decipher wether it was a prerecorded sound or if something was actively making the noise.

I was nudged out of my thoughts as he tugged in my arm and we finally walked into the open door instead of just staring at it. The brightness was blinding as I stepped through and my hold on his hand slipped and I fell through onto a stable slab of stone maybe?

I groaned as my fall was on the scrapes I had gotten just a bit ago outside. They were still tender. I looked over and saw mono standing back up already also a little disoriented. He held his hand back out and helped me up. "How's your injuries?" He sounded worried and a bit guilty as if it was somehow his fault.

I brushed off my clothes and nodded as I blanked my face out a bit to clear my emotions then I smiled slightly at him "come on now, we have been through worse I'm fine."

His face showed a slight grimace but he smiled back and we both turned to face ahead of us. I just now realized that the ground, or lack thereof was air with a staircase leading upwards.

Peering over the edge I saw more doors along the walls of the building and multiple floating items. Kid toys, a random chair, and lamps. "I guess let's keep going"

We began to move up the staircase at a decent pace, the music from before was a bit louder. It was another open door with light at the top. I walked through it again this time I felt him hold onto my hand tighter, to ensure we didn't fall or stumble.

I opened my eyes and it was a short hallway with another opened door just a little ways down. I came to the realization that the music gets louder when we are near the open doorways so far.

Why would it be quiet sometimes but loud only when near it?? There was a few burning questions in my head. I itched to write down this information but remembering it would have to suffice.

We walked through the new door and when I opened my eyes again it was the exact same hallway. "Are you serious??" I mumbled in annoyance as I turned myself to face him head on. "I think it has to do with the music we hear, when it's louder it leads us to a new room maybe."

He nodded "Yeah I've noticed that too. Some sort of puzzle. Stay close to me." He pulled me closer as we headed towards the door that had music drifting from it the closer we got. After going through a few more doors our surroundings finally changed from that same short hallway.

I used my free hand to rub my eyes as they were getting sore from the strain of the bright lights. Reopening them I noticed it was a new hallway we began to travel forward. The first opened door we passed did not have music coming from it.

We continued on passing a closed door towards a opened one. The door was only halfway open as the upper part was curled and bent a bit. It had music coming from it. I glanced to the left and saw another open door.

"This one because of the music." He said stopping me from looking at the other door. I just shrugged and was a tad curious on where the other one would go. We walked through the correct music door.
