xvii. To Live and Die Again

After apologizing to Vicky again for Tiana's actions and her outrage, Cameron was swift as he flew up and into the atmosphere.

There he was hovering, looking for the familiar voice of the child having grown too quickly. Cameron was running through every sound in the world as he was listening for it and his eyes narrowed.

"Anything yet?"

Mateo was back inside of his head and Cameron sighed. Cameron even shook his head, before he finally realized and also remembered that no one could see him.

"No luck on my end. You haven't found her yet, have you?"

"No luck. Tiana?"

"I've looked everywhere. I can't find her anywhere, what if she's..."

"She's not dead, T. We definitely would have felt it if she died, right Teo?"

"As soon as she was born, I was able to bond our minds. If she was dead, I would have instantly felt something when she died. Your daughter is still alive, Tiana. I promise you."

"If she is dead, Mateo Cortez, and you have lied to me? I will kill you very slowly, myself. I swear to God."

Tiana's mind was cut off and Cameron blinked, having thought that he heard a familiar voice, before he was lowering his head and going back to listening.

"Mateo, can you temporarily connect my mind to Clark's?"

"Will do."

"Done."

"Clark, can you hear me?"

"What's wrong? What's going on?"

"Liliana is missing from Vicky May's and Tiana, she is running around the world trying to find her. Tiana is raging, grieving and angry with herself, and she is absolutely convinced that Liliana could already be dead."

"So, what do you want me to do?"

"Send the boys out to help us right now. We need more eyes, both looking for Liliana and looking out for Tiana. I don't trust Tiana in the emotional state that she is in right now."

"Will do."

Cameron was taking off out of the atmosphere when he was following Tiana across the world, until she staggered to a stop inside of the Desert Fortress.

Tiana was finally out of gas and she was shaking, leaning against the wall as he was looking at her. "Tiana?" He asked cautiously and she looked up at him. "I'm still listening. If there is an area that we can't listen in on with my super hearing, then I will go into those places and manually search. I promise you, we will find her."

"If you can't hear her... How do you know that..." Tiana's voice broke as she trembled and her eyes were welling up with red-hot tears. "How do you know, that she isn't already dead?" She whispered and Cameron was looking at her, before he silently shook his head and he was opening up a compartment in the wall.
