One Month Later

The late afternoon sun poured through the apartment windows, casting a warm, golden light across the chaotic scene in the living room. Kara’s moving day had arrived, and with it, a whirlwind of boxes, bags, and last-minute packing that seemed to multiply the more she tried to organize them.

The once cozy living room was now filled with an overwhelming jumble of things waiting to be packed, and despite the mess, the atmosphere buzzed with energy.

Soobin and Yeonjun sat cross-legged on the floor, sorting through Kara's collection of books. The air between them was light, filled with playful bickering as they debated the most effective way to organize the library.

“Soobin, for the love of all things holy, you cannot just stack them all randomly!” Kara exclaimed, snatching a stack of mismatched books from her brother's hands.

Soobin raised his hands in mock surrender. “I’m just trying to make it easier for you. Who cares what order they’re in? The important thing is that they’re getting packed.”

Yeonjun, leaning back against the couch with a smirk, added his two cents. “But if you group them by color, they’ll look way cooler on the shelf. Who cares if they’re organized by genre or author? It’s all about aesthetics.”

Kara shot him an incredulous look. “You’re impossible.”

“So what? Kara, books are supposed to be a little messy, a little chaotic,” Yeonjun teased. “It adds to the charm.”

“Don’t listen to him,” Soobin chimed in, though his tone carried a soft affection. “He just likes to stir things up for the fun of it.”

Kara folded her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow. “You two are so gross sometimes.”

Yeonjun chuckled, shooting her a playful wink. “Jealous?”

“Nope. Just really tired of all your public displays of affection,” Kara replied, even as a smile tugged at her lips.

As much as she was happy to see Soobin in a relationship that made him so happy, it had taken her a little while to get used to how affectionate he and Yeonjun were in public. The way they exchanged little kisses and shared private jokes made her feel like an outsider at times.

It wasn’t that she didn’t approve—far from it. She could see how much Soobin had changed since meeting Yeonjun.

The old, more serious, and guarded version of Soobin had softened, and seeing him laugh so freely made Kara feel both happy for him and, honestly, a little uncomfortable. She wasn’t used to seeing her brother like this.

“I still can’t believe you guys are like this,” Kara muttered, rolling her eyes as she dropped a stack of books into a box.

“You know you love us,” Yeonjun said, sending her a wink. He always knew how to make her laugh, even if his antics sometimes annoyed her.

“You’re a lot,” she said, trying to suppress a smile. “I swear, every time you’re around, it’s like I’m watching an episode of a cheesy rom-com.”

“Sounds like you’re jealous,” Yeonjun teased again, leaning over to plant a quick kiss on Soobin’s cheek.

“Ew!” Kara groaned, throwing an empty box at them. “I can’t handle this level of gross.”
