The golden sunlight filtering through the sheer curtains did little to brighten the somber atmosphere in my bedroom. I laid motionless on my bed, staring at the ceiling, my head heavy with exhaustion and mind restless with haunting images.

Last night, I only managed to sleep for two hours before jumping up from that awful nightmare. It felt so real. Him standing there with blood smeared all over his face, arms and clothes. The scene shifted so drastically that I barely had chance to react.

We were hanging out in a beautiful park; talking and laughing together before everything changed. The place turned in a bloodbath, the heart-wrenching screams of people screeching in my ears. I tried reaching out to Levi, but he was not beside me anymore. He was on the ground, screaming for help as Elliott hovered above him with a gun in his hand.

My feets were rooted to it's spot, body numb with trepidation as I helplessly watched him pull the trigger. Levi dropped dead on the cold ground, his wide haunting eyes staring right into mine as he slowly and eventually stopped breathing.

I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing myself against the comfort of the warm covers, though my body was coated with cold sweat. That look. That look of pained betrayal in his brown eyes was something I will never be able to erase from my mind. It would haunt me forever. And it was always the same damn nightmare that came back to haunt me in my sleep.

The faint knock on the door broke the heavy silence of my room as a maid's voice followed. "Ma'am, Mr. De Luca has asked for your presence at breakfast. His father is here as well."

The mention of Elliott's father sent a chill through my already shaken nerves. Though I didn't know much about him, I concluded that he wouldn't be any better than his good-for-nothing eldest son. After all, their whole family is involved in the mafia.

Not wanting to face the monster's wrath, I forced to drag myself out of bed, my only source of safety these days. The weather was getting colder day by day, so I decided to wear a soft white cardigan and baggy jeans with my hair tied in a loose ponytail.

Elliott stood up from his seat as I entered the dining hall with a deep breath, his gaze sharp but softening when it landed on me. "Good morning, love." He greeted, his tone gentle, masking the tension brimming within him just a second ago. He pulled out a chair for me, his fingers brushing mine as I sat down, though I barely acknowledged the exchange and shifted my gaze on the smirking man sat across the long table.

Something about him is just so eerily unsettling.

"Ah, the lady of the house decided to grace us with her presence." Aurelius said mockingly, swirling the ceramic coffee mug in his hand. "How charming."
