CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

Gonna start a couple chapters of filler so that I can take a bit of a break from just focusing on the plot, and for our MC to heal before we jump straight into Foxy's crew and their shenanigans. Some laid back, slice of life stuff while we start to explore and expand on the bond between the reader and the crew.

On another, random note; I'm thinking about opening up a discord server!

I've been trying to think of fun ways to be able to notify everybody when chapters are updated, since people have mentioned having trouble receiving the notifications in the past... I'm thinking I'll put a ping channel for when I update the story, but I'll also include channels for people to share their art, have a channel for suggestions for this story (and for other stories if people are looking for them), voice chats, etc... Just a place for everybody to convene in a lil community. Thoughts?

I might also use the opportunity to promote streaming a lil' more, in case anybody would be interested... not sure yet though. I enjoy playing video games when I'm not writing this story, and I've been thinking it might be fun to share with others. We'll see!! I don't want to shove it down people's throats if they aren't interested LMFAO

To end, I'd like to thank y'all for being here to enjoy the story with me. 150k reads is insane. Thanks so much everybody <33 Y'all are amazing.

Happy reading!!

The sizzle of beef over stovetop spatters with a soft hiss, white noise beneath the chatter of everyone in the room. An earthy-sweet tang of the meat and teriyaki, interlaced with a variety of spices, wafts around the kitchen enticingly, promising the delivery of a delightful meal. We all wait patiently for lunch to be finalized with Sanji's careful scrutiny of all its parts... Well, most of us wait patiently.

"Sanji, hurry up... I'm starving..." Luffy moans, practically aching to bite into the meat as his mouth salivates. He hadn't torn his eyes from the grub this entire time, not until Sanji removed it from the pan and slid it into the oven to broil.

"Would you be quiet?" Sanji scolds, growing testy with every whiny-syllable that exits Luffy's pouty lips. "How many times do I have to tell you, it'll be at least another half-hour until everything's finished. This meal was made specially for your soulmate, so eat that bread I gave you before I stuff it down your throat."

"But I already ate it all..." Luffy sobs, head dropping to the table with a thunk. The tell-tale crumbs on his face are evidence enough that he was speaking truthfully.

I shake my head quietly, though the tiniest of smiles is displayed. No matter how many times Sanji staved him off, Luffy remained insatiable whenever meat was involved.

Sat on the couch, I diligently run my hands through the short tufts of brown fur that cover Chopper's body. His baby-pink hat had been discarded in favor of my finger tips, scratching my nails over his scalp before tracing down over his back soothingly; practiced in my movements, having done this time and time again for the little ones back at the old orphanage. I had lost count of how many times the little reindeer had sighed in contentment, nuzzling happily against my chest due to my ministrations. Though I don't think he realised he was doing it, I didn't mind. Chopper had once told me that he contained no physical attraction to the human body, only memorizing our anatomy for the sake of his duty as the ship's doctor. After all, he was technically still an animal at heart, and a young one at that... having said that, it was a little tedious whenever I had to dodge a stray horn or two in his leisureness.

Still, none of that mattered. The whole reason I had begun to tend to him in the first place was to thank him for his continued treatment of my injuries. It had taken some convincing on my part, as he was always slightly reserved, but he was undoubtedly appreciative of it now.
