Today I had a good night,
Emo night Brooklyn.
At first we were afraid it'd be lame, but
It sweetened up,
And I found myself being silly and having fun in the smallest ways.
Jokes about how I can push through crowds like I pushed through hallways,
Motions to match the lyrics of songs,
Screaming my lungs out until I had to switch an octave down to save my voice.
It was nice. I was the driver since she's not comfortable driving downtown,
It wasn't hard at all, I got lucky with the location.
But the best thing of all I think was feeling good in my body, feeling attractive in my skin and just being myself, silliness and all.
It was nice to feel good about myself and make someone laugh and smile tonight. Being truly goofy with a friend for the first time in awhile.
Sometimes you can perform the lyrics to a song without having to throw your whole body into a dance,
Sometimes you can feel the same joy others do just by making them laugh,
Sometimes you find someone you can smile with without worrying about if you're smiling at the wrong time or thing.
It's joyous.
