I woke up early Monday morning to get breakfast and coffee with you-know-who,

He just turned 21. He stayed at mine with me. We drank together.

My entire household is in Wisconsin right now, so he stayed.

I dropped him off at 7 so he could go brush his teeth and get ready to leave for his own shift,

I didn't have work until 8 but, why would I bother going home when I have to leave in half an hour anyway?

I remember thinking to myself "why wait for three lights and when I can cut through the parking lot to go right?"

So I did.

I still have those old habits, and despite having new money, it mostly goes into savings.

It's strange to me, that so many things had to line up for you to see me.

All of your circumstances, and all of mine.

If he had never decided to stay the night,
If I had drank a little too much and wanted to wait for some painkillers to kick in before I drive,
If I had woken up when my alarm went off instead of a bit late,
If we decided not to get breakfast,

You wouldn't have had that jarring moment.

But hey, your welcome for waking you up.

I wonder now if it'll be my turn, by some twist of fate,

Not to find you when I take the long way to drive past your neighborhood, or my park,

Not when I go to or leave A's house,

But by some twist of fate, at some random moment, I can see you.

I hope so.
