Stacy's POV
"I thought you would be helping your husband with getting ready," Mel said as I put the finishing touches on her face.
"He is alright putting on black shirt and dark glasses." She chuckled. The truth is, I couldn't stand looking at him, guilt was eating me out.
"Please don't tell me you two are still at odds." This wasn't odds, the bwoy up to something and I can't ask him because he is not talking much.
"Your son is in a mood and I have no time to follow him up."
"See, that's what I want to hear. Leave him to come around, don't pay him too much mind. Live your life a little Stacy and don't fight with him."
How? She made everything sound so easy but I knew better.
"I am trying. Anyways, is that enough?" I showed her the mirror and she was pleased.
"Perfect, you should do this professionally."
"No, I don't like people," I said and she laughed.
"Today is going to be a long day, smiling with people I don't like. I wish I could fake my death just for today."
"You could, no one would be surprised," I said. She was even thinking about it for real until her phone rang but she ignored the call.
"You are something else. Anyways have fun and take a lot of pictures and please, watch my son."
"And your husband?"
I hissed my teeth. "Not even a google map could find him if he decides to disappear, suh I would even waste my time."
"Oh dear," Mel said, then pulled me into her for a hug. "One day he won't be this hard to handle, I promise."
She keeps saying this but when is that? It's like she doesn't know her spawn or she pretends just to save herself the heartache of knowing her child is sick, mentally.
"A girl can only dream right?" I asked.
"You will be alright. I'm going to finish getting dressed before Poppy starts calling again. I am dying for her to go back to Jersey, too much of her now.
"Ok. I am going upstairs to see if your son picked out the right dark glasses."
I made my way to the bedroom, hoping he was fully dressed and ready to leave the fucking house. I needed a break from the tension. To my surprise he wasn't wearing a plain black shirt, he was wearing a full suit.
"You look good." He did, I loved when he was looking like this.
"Thanks. My mom is ready?"
"She is almost finished," I replied.
He checked himself in the mirror and like I predicted, he put on the darkest of glasses that he had.
"You want me to take a picture of you?"
"No," He quickly replied.
"OK. Please watch LJ and make sure that little girl nuh get him in any trouble."
"Nah watch a soul enuh cause I don't know why you a send him there."
"He is Alexis plus one and Poppy asked if he could come."
"Yuh nuh see wah Poppy a do?"
"Yes but LJ has a mind of his own, he is like you."
He didn't say anything after that. All I got was a kiss on my cheek and he told me later and left the room. I sat at the window and watched them taking pictures. He definitely looked happier out there than he was in here with me.
