After what happened that eventful morning, Lavender and Liam successfully arrived at their individual classes on time.

"Four more days, Lele!" Lavender squealed with glee when she saw Liam again after her third class that day.

"Everyone is pulling out their hair, because of finals but you're excited about summer? Well, yeah, I know. Your last name is literally spelled Summers. How ironic," Liam chuckled, amused as Lavender skipped ahead of him.

She stopped at the continuous ring of her phone. It was from Liam. As she was about to turn and ask him why he was being so childish, something green caught her eyes. She took it out, counting the money in shock.

Her confused eyes flew up to an extremely pleased Liam; who finally caught up with her.

Her mouth opened to interrogate him, but he explained before she could start. "The woman slipped it in when you weren't looking because you didn't want to take it."

Lavender shook her head at the sneaky move. "I know I should've suspected something when you started asking ridiculous questions like, what would I do if a snake randomly jumped out of a bush and bit me in the neck. Here, silly boy. You had a role to play too."

"You earned it because if it were up to me, that woman would've been dead. Or robbed. Or whatever that man had in mind." Liam's half smile was shaky as he wrapped her hands around the money.

Liam could easily get five hundred in his wallet with the swipe of a card, so she didn't bother arguing. Having this money meant maybe a month or two away from her guy toys. If she used it wisely, but then again her college expenses wouldn't pay for itself.

There went her excitement down the drain.

The sacrifices, she frowned, pushing the money into the deepest part of her bag.

She returned to her previous carefree nature and started randomly telling Liam that she would love to visit China for their eggrolls.

"Lav, you can easily get that anywhere," Liam reminded her.

"But it's different when you get something from where it's originated from. Someday, I'm going to China and I'm going to come back with some new recipes up my sleeves."

As they strolled down the courtyard, three friends stopped talking and one of them shamelessly raked his eyes over Lavender.

Liam wrapped his arms protectively around Lavender's shoulder at the sight. She hid her eye roll from him.

Men, she thought.

"Pigs," Liam groused. "The one in the middle is literally drooling over you, and his friend might as well say that he can see through your clothes with the way he's looking at you."

She ignored his comment and continued talking about her love for all things Chinese when she felt someone slap her ass.

Lavender swung around indignantly.

Her eyes immediately shot at the one with the impenitent attitude, for the one in the middle eyes were wide with shock and the other one continued to leisurely explore her body with his eyes.

With her eyes, Lavender implored Liam not to intervene. After a moment too long, Liam reluctantly stepped back in defeat. Naturally, Liam wasn't an aggressive person but for the people he loved, he almost looked brave.

She took the jerk's hand, painfully bending his wrist. Neither one of his buddies made an effort to help.

The focused one leaned against a tree, tucking his tongue in his cheek with his hands in his pocket. His face emotionless but his dark orbs glistened and the corner of his lips twitched. He was hard to read, but he almost looked amused.
