The fact of losing someone you love is an ailing pain to the stomach. Even cramps felt better than that sickening pain. Lavender couldn't find the exact name for that unpleasant sensation, but she can only describe it. The unbearable pain ate her up day by day.
It was funny how you could get out of bed with your chest pushed out, head held high and a smile to fool anybody.
Even the people closest to you don't always see the lie behind your smile. Close people like Liam believed it all. Swallowing the lies one after the other.
The fact that she was afraid to lose someone she loves again she lied to her friend.
Her only friend.
Her best friend.
She shouldn't have kept the truth away from him for so long but she did. Far too long. And even if he did say it was okay she knew that it still bothered him. She saw the hurt in his eyes every time they talked.
But Damien saw it all.
He saw the pain behind her smile and caught the lie right between her teeth. He understood her and that frightened her.
The last person that did, died years ago.
Lavender felt as if it was somehow all her fault. Her fault that she didn't keep her momma happy enough to stay alive just a bit longer, but it wasn't her fault.
She was killed.
Because Lavender could compare Damien to her momma it scared her. So she did what any scared person would do.
Run.
Ever since she heard Damien tell her that he 'loved' her, whether it was in his sleep or not, she couldn't sleep. She heard the continuous missed calls. Even the conversation Damien had on the phone. She even heard when he left, and when he did that's when she got up and started packing her things.
Her mother fell for her father and died. Lavender felt herself tripping for a guy that captured her.
She wasn't falling as yet.
Is she?
She wrote a quick goodbye letter that had more than she wanted on it.
Dear, Damien
I'll be real here. I don't want anyone to fall in love with me 'cause I'm afraid they'll stand back up 'cause they'll get tired of me. I don't want to fall in love 'cause I'm afraid when I fall nobody's gonna be there to catch me. They'll just let me fall. Fall hard and it'll be hard to get back up 'cause the pain becomes too unbearable.
That's why I avoid all that love bullshit. That thing is way too damn complicated.
How do I know?
Trust me, I've seen a lot. Too much. I've seen people fall for the wrong person at the wrong time. I've seen people get hurt 'cause of love.
But that's normal right?
Relationships aren't perfect. If it's perfect then it ain't real. That's why I live my life like it's the last 'cause YOLO and good things don't last forever.
Nothing lasts forever remember?
I can't fall in love right now because I have to work on me first.
If I have problems with myself what makes you think I'll be fit for that relationship kinda thing?
What makes you think I'm worth the confusion and heartache?
