"They're gone," Lavender whispered. He looked so fragile as if with one touch he would break, so she gradually placed her hands on his cheeks, lifting his head off her shoulder.

"Lo siento." (I'm sorry.) "Damien, look at me." Her voice still barely a whisper as he avoided eye contact. "I'm sorry."

"Can you do me a favor?"

"Sure."

"Watch cartoons with me." Without a doubt, it completely stunned her. She expected something else.

She untied him. "Sure. Still hungry?"

"I've lost my appetite."

The moment they were in his room, Damien turned on the television that was on the wall. He tucked a pillow underneath his chin with the remote in his hand and zoned out in the world of Ben 10.

Lavender glimpsed at Damien.

What she really was looking at was a little boy trapped in a man's body. His now slightly overgrown hair was tosseled across his forehead. It's soft and silkiness easily slipped through her fingers.

The folds on his forehead smoothed, chocolate eyes that never wavered from the screen lighten up, but his grip on the remote control tightened until his knuckles grew white.

Lavender left him in his comfort zone to clean up the mess they had made, removing the ingredients that were chopped and placing them in small separate containers.

There was nothing that she could do with the ripped sofas, but whatever that could fix she fixed. By the time she had returned to the room, Damien was watching another cartoon where an old man lived in a haunted house.

Lavender didn't know the name of the movie, because the last time she watched any cartoon was when she was twelve. She was too caught up in taking care of her mother, keeping her grades up at school, and earning money at any cost.

2:45 a.m yet Lavender had not slept at all except for Damien. He looked so peaceful when he slept as if he didn't have a worry in the world. She smiled and returned her attention back to the cartoon that Damien called 'Finding Nemo.'

Somewhere in between the movie, Damien had woken up. He rested his head on her butt and the only thing she had on was her shorts and his Scooby-doo T-shirt.

"Enjoying them?"

"I have to admit that I actually am."

"I'm sorry about earlier." His voice was hushed and ashamed.

"I should be the one apologizing. I'm leaving tomorrow. I've already caused enough trouble."

Damien shot up as her words registered to him. "No way are you leaving! If you leave then you will be in trouble. Who will rock you back to sleep? Who will protect you while you're in your most vulnerable moments?"
