"Lavender, Mr. Angelo is waiting on you," Rose informed Lavender, helping her put the food on the tray. "You know, now that I see you two often together I see some resemblance."
"I think you need glasses."
Angelo was in no suit and tie today, his whole attire entirely different. He wore a button up shirt with palm trees imprinted on it that gives off that summer vibe, that revealed his tattoo sleeve with a cargo short pants. That shoulder length hair Angelo had the day before was all chopped off in a low haircut.
"No suit today? Nice haircut by the way," Lavender complimented him.
"Nope, it's too hot and I'm too hot. I've got to flaunt it. Glad you like it."
"Love it. Makes you look younger."
Angelo flipped his invisible long hair. "Why, thank you. Have a seat and eat with me today."
Lavender raised a curious eyebrow at Angelo. Chuckling, he raised his hands up in surrender. "No need to hesitate. Wasn't like I poisoned the food."
"Perhaps, I did." Lavender picked a grape from his salad, popping it in her mouth. With due time; they formed a connection and he made work a whole lot more interesting. His sense of adventure was thrilling, and he was so straightforward and humorous.
Even hours after he had left, she would erupt into laughter at his stories. The one he had told her today was how he got his sleeve tattoos by losing a bet.
Liam was absolutely right when he told Lavender that relationships weren't perfect. Perfect isn't real and real isn't perfect.
Imperfect things usually take time to fix but never to perfect. No matter how hard you try to perfect something; there is always a thing or two missing out.
But it is the fact that you're working on it that counts right?
Friendship is one of those imperfect relationships that always has some fixing to do. From the time you were a child, arguing with your friend to go on the slide first to when you're a teenager, arguing about who gets the most food or who gets to sit in the passenger's seat.
However, somewhere along the line, someone's gonna apologize first. Someone's going to want their friend back, and everyone has a special way of getting back a friend. However, Omarion's way of getting back a friend was quite unique.
"Ladies and gents, attention please," Omar called out to the remaining customers as he stood on a chair, clearing his throat. AJ who was passing by with a mop in his hand rolled his eyes in embarrassment.
Lavender was ecstatic that she got to work a double shift today and got to witness whatever it was that Omar was about to do.
"Austin Jackson, don't you take another step."
AJ narrowed his eyes at Omar in challenge and took one step then another and another until he was almost a step out the door. Omar shrieked in frustration. "Dude, please chill."
It took some thinking before AJ decided to turn around and sit on the nearest chair, slinging his hand over it. By doing that it pleased Omar and he grinned like a donkey on a toothpaste commercial.
If that ever happened.
After Omar signaled for Grace to play the music, he stiffly rocked his hips from side to side.
"He's quite the dancer," Rose commented, crossing her arms across her chest and yawning boredly.
"If he's gonna be dancing like that he's gonna need some DW40 real quick," Lavender added as she chuckled and took out her phone to record Omar. "That'll come in handy soon."
"Hey, everybody look at me-"
"You already have our attention boy. Now get on with it," an old lady bickered impatiently, hitting Omar's butt with her wooden cane. Her face was withered and lined with deep crags.
"It's part of the Backyardigans theme song you, old woman."
It's ironic how old people, especially women hated being called old. For them, age was never supposed to catch up with them. Age was supposed to wait a thousand more years if it could.
It would've been better if Omar went on with his singing, because the lady with the thousand folds of wrinkles on her face, stood up and whacked him harder with her cane. She dusted her already stainless jumper suit and patted her boy haircut. A toothless kid with a cowboy hat and matching outfit with the lady helped her sit and fist bumped her.
"You just got your ass whipped by my grandma," the little boy teased, sticking out his tongue.
"Aint no lie when they said that the apple never falls too far from the tree," Omar mumbled, rubbing his butt.
"At least grandma has style," Rose snickered suddenly interested.
Omar grinded his teeth hard enough for them to fall off. The temptation to answer the old lady was radiating in the air, but he managed to ignore her. "Grace please restart the song."
"Hey everybody look at me.
And I'm AJ's best friend Omarion.
We need to be together again
It is how we belong and I'm
Singing a song for you to dance along.
We used to be together you know....to explore?
We always found things we've never seen before, that's why AJ, I need my best friend back.
I'm your best friend Omarion!"
At the end of Omar's performance, Lavender could barely breathe from how much she was laughing.
The customers awed and gave Omar a standing ovation, but AJ's expression was unreadable. He tugged Omar from the spotlight, pulling him off the chair. Before they got out Lavender stopped him. "Nice dancing DW40."
Omar folded his arms across his chest like a stubborn child. "Like you can do any better."
"Ayyyyy, I'm Afro-Latina. The dancing skills runs through my veins," she answered with her thick accent. In response, Omar flipped Lavender her off. "Keep those middle fingers up and I'll let granny over there give you another whipping."
Because Lavender said that, she somehow managed to get a stifled laugh out of AJ. "Nice one," he smirked, pulling Omar out of view.
A whole hour passed and Lavender still couldn't sleep. Really she was sleepy but was rather too afraid to sleep. Afraid that maybe Damien could be telling the truth, but luckily Anjelica saved her that trouble from falling asleep quickly.
"Lav, do you know what Anjelica means?" Anjelica asked as she patted Lavender's hair softly as she sat on the bed. The action got Lavender eyes dropping quicker than she'd expected. Weirdly, it was like a sleeping pill.
"I don't know," Lavender slurred.
Anjelica smiled. "It means angelic."
"It suits your nature. Tell me something about when you were younger in Italy."
Anjelica rolled her lips in her mouth, placing her small delicate hand on her cheek. "It was such a long time ago that I don't even know where to start."
"Start anywhere." She blinked the sleep out of her eyes, but it only made her even more drowsy. The last thing Lavender saw was Anjelica looking up as if that would magically bring back her memory.
"I remember when I-"
That was the last of what she heard because she slurred into sleep, ready for Damien's proof in the morning.
