Damien arrived home, meeting Lavender sleeping peacefully on his bed. He shook his head, leaning at the door frame, and crossed his arms across his chest.

Again shaking his head, he fixed Lavender and slept beside her which became their habit as if it was their daily routine.

Every time her nightmares began to kick in, Damien would console her and rock her back to sleep. Every night.

"I'm hungry," Damien groaned, stealing a look at Lavender one evening. She got off from work early that day because she didn't have to work any double shifts for that week.

Lavender licked her lips. "What's that got to do with me?"

"I can't cook."

"Shame on you." Lavender patted his cheeks, doing babyfaces. She ran her fingers halfway through his growing hair. "What do you want to eat?"

He gave her a funny look, kissing the side of her lips. "I'm sure we'd both be delighted if I showed you instead."

Lavender smirked at his comment. "Oh really?"

Damien nodded. She pulled him closer to her by the collar, rubbing her nose with his. Then she kissed the tip of his nose and pulled him to the kitchen.

"Get me the sweet peppers uh onions and celery please," Lavender instructed as she tied her hair in a ponytail and washed her hands afterward.

Damien did as he was told, placing them on the counter. He had an extra piece of celery in his hand and nibbled on it. Lavender gagged as she gathered all of the equipment and ingredients for lasagna.

Damien chuckled, breathing in her face. "That's disgusting, Damien. Make yourself useful and chop those sweet peppers."

"I don't know how to."

"Ay dios mìo." She pushed him closer to the counter. "Come. I'll show you."

Damien shoved the rest of his celery in his mouth and rubbed his hands together in anticipation. Lavender slowly demonstrated how she wanted the sweet peppers to be chopped. She carefully handed the chef's knife to him which he rolled his eyes at.

"I could hold a knife, you know."

She placed her hands on his shoulders. "Better safe than sorry, Cariño." (Babe)

She watched as Damien chopped the sweet peppers. At first, he was chopping them too big and unevenly, but got the hang of it after Lavender corrected him about seven times.

Because he was doing okay she thought it was safe for him to do the onions and celery.

"Why did you let me come here when you got injured?"

Damien stopped and pretended to think, handing Lavender the knife. "Because I didn't want to lose this game to a dead person. Where's the fun in that?"

Her jaw dropped and her eyes went wide. He laughed at her shocked reaction. "I'm just joking. C'mere." He put his hands out, doing that thing with his hands that babies did when they were trying to say come.

She went in his arms and as Damien kissed her forehead; she tickled him. The shocking thing was that he froze, so she pulled back to get a good look at him.

Damien's face was blank. She tickled him again, convincing herself that by doing that he would at least crack a smile. She thought he was trying his hardest not to laugh, but she was way out of the box.

His whole demeanor changed which totally frightened Lavender.

She made an attempt to touch him but he fired at her. He grabbed her wrist which had the knife and knocked it from her hand which landed on the floor. She elbowed him, blocking a slap he threw her way. It was as if he was being controlled.
