Miranda's pov

My head feels heavy when I wake back up. And when I do, the room I'm in is nothing like where I first was. I don't even know where I am! "Jason!" I call. He walks in, carrying a gun. "Where are we?" I ask. "Some store. We're hiding out while we try to refind your brothers." He says. "I never got to thank you for saving my life again." I say, smiling. He smiles too and helps me up. Pain shoots up and down my leg making me cry out. "It's gonna hurt for a while. Just lean on me." He says, gently. He holds me up, strongly. "Thanks." I mumble wiping my eyes. I don't want him to see me cry. You cry, you're weak. And I'm not weak. I bite my lip and force myself to not cry. He's got a walkie talkie at his belt. My eyes light up. I know Glenn has one too. I sit down on a rock. "Need to rest?" He asks. I nod, closing my eyes tight, trying to force away the pain.

Jason's pov

She's hurting bad. Maybe I should give her the morphine dad packed for her. I take off my pack and search through it. "The walkie talkie." She says. "What about it?" I ask. "I might be able to get a hold of Glenn." She says. She grips the rock so tight her knuckles turn white. I stare at her worriedly. "Don't worry, you'll be okay in a little bit." "I need the talkie." She says. "Okay, hold on a sec." I finally find the syringe and jar. "What is that?" She asks, staring at it. "Just something to help with the pain." I say. "It won't knock me out, will it?" She asks, moving away. I shake my head with a smile. She still looks nervous. I get the medicine in the syringe. "I'm sorry. It ain't that I don't trust you. I've just never trusted medicine." She mumbles.

Miranda's pov

He injects me with the morphine then hands me the walkie talkie. "Thank goodness." I gasp, tuning it and calling for Glenn. All I get us static. Jason helps me up so I can hold it up higher. "Please come in!" I cry. Shane comes in. "Shane!" I cry, "thank God!" "Where are you?" He asks. "Wait, Shane why didn't Glenn pick up?!" I whimper, trying not to freak out. It's silent. That says it all. Glenn's dead. My whole body numbs up and I drop the talkie. "What's wrong?" Jason gasps. I'm too upset to answer. "I'm sorry Squirt, he didn't make it." Daryl's voice. I stop caring about being weak and cry like a baby.

Jason's pov

I grab the talkie back. "Where are you guys. "About 8 miles from your farm." He says. "We're on our way."

*a couple hours later*

Miranda's pov

When I regain my senses, Jason is crouched by a window, his gun drawn and ready to fire. I whisper his name and he jumps in surprise accidentally firing it! "What the heck!" I cry. "You were so quiet. It just surprised me." He mumbles embarrassed. "There's a herd right across the street. I'm waiting for it to pass." He says, helping me up again. "Where are we going?" I ask. "Your brothers' camp." He says. I hope that means I'll finally be able to see them again. "We're only about a mile away." He says. "I know this is really hard for you but we need to get moving soon. Are you up for it?" He asks. I nod. "If I can get passed having to shoot my own mother in the face, I think I can get through losing Glenn." I strain to say. I try to sound strong but I'm terrible at it. He hugs me. I cry on his shoulder. The pain in my leg is unbearable so I sit back down. "Maybe we should crash here for the night and continue in the morning." He says, rubbing my back. I try to stop crying but it's no use. Everything over the last year since the dead rose is finally spilling out of me. Mom, Dad, Rick, Carl, and Glenn. All the people I've lost. All the people I've killed. It all comes rushing back. He just holds me as I cry myself to sleep.

*the next morning*

I look up at the ceiling of the shop we holed up in. My cheeks still wet from crying. Jason's still asleep. His hand still grips the gun tightly. I sit up ignoring the pain in my leg.

Jason's pov

She lays down right beside me. I try not to act like I'm awake. She's not still crying. She wraps an arm around me and I do the same to her. "It's gonna be okay." I say. "Just promise me one thing Jason." She whispers. "Anything." I say. "You'll never leave me." She whimpers close to tears again. She wants me to stay with her? "Of course sweetheart. I'll be by your side forever." I whisper. Her hand shakily rests against my chest. I put my hand on top of hers. "Just get some rest." She buries her head in my side and is asleep in seconds.
