Jason's pov
Alarm bells are going off in my head! What's gonna happen? It's really dangerous to have a baby during the apocalypse! She could bleed out and die! I'm too shocked to do anything but sit there. Fear is easily seen on her face too. It makes me remember the first time I met her. She was a terrified little girl who in no way could survive on her own but now since I've taken her under my wing, she's much stronger and can kick walker butt as well as human. I snap out of it and hold her hand. "We'll make it through this and you'll see. We'll have a healthy baby and we'll take care of him or her." "You don't know that! I could end up being dead in 9 months!" She cries. "I don't know. But I believe it will." "Ha belief ain't gonna get you shit! If there was a God, why would he let this happen!? Why would he let any of this happen!?" "Honey, don't say that!" I gasp, staring at her fearfully. She's right but that's no way to think. "You ain't giving up are you?" "Might as well, Jason, you said it yourself, we're all gonna die, why not quick and easy then living in fear!" What? When did I tell her that? I mean I've thought it but I don't remember ever saying it. "When.... Uh.... When did I say that?" "Last night in your sleep." She looks over at me. "It's true. It's a very good philosophy." "No it's not! Stop thinking about it. It's bad." I grumble, leaning my back against the rv. I wrap an arm protectively around her. "Don't worry about nothin'. I'll take care of you and the baby. I promise." "And when the time comes-" "It won't baby girl, it won't." "But if it does-" "stop it." She sighs and lays her head on my arm. "Don't let go of me." She whimpers. I hold her tighter. "Don't you worry, hun. I'll never let go of you." I say, hugging her. We go back in the rv. He grabs the guitar. "What song do you want me to sing?" "Brad Paisley's shattered glass." She says, laying down in the bed. I pull up a chair and sit beside the bed. "I can picture you the day you were born baby girl in your mama's arms, destined for great things. Kinda cool for an angel like you all the things you know how to do and yet the world tries to clip your wings but you wouldn't let 'em, so baby go get 'em. Bust that ceiling out. The sky's the limit now the world is changing fast. Rear your head back and roar, like ya ain't ever done before. I wanna see you kick some ass. Aw you been through it in vain come on baby make it rain down shattered glass." I set the guitar down and kiss her. "No time to waste gotta make this moment yours got a whole Lotta history to make up for." I whisper sing, our foreheads touching, my hands grip hers. I kiss her again, moving my hands to the back of her neck.
*after*
My hand rests on her stomach. "Pretty soon there's gonna be a baby showing." "I don't wanna talk about it." "Well, we have to tell the others." She nods. "I know. But I wanted the daddy to know first." I pull her close to me. "Aren't you a tiny bit excited?" I ask, moving my hands in circles on her stomach. "No I'm not. This kid's gonna grow up in a living hell!" "So. We're growing up in it." She laughs. "Jason, we're adults. We're just living in it." I shrug. "Same thing. I'm happy about it. My one true love startinga family with me. It's what Merle told me to do anyway." Oops, I let that slip out. She turns around instantly. "What are you talking about?" I sigh. "The last thing he said to me before I had to kill him was we're gonna need to have someone to keep the human race going. And he gave me that smirk which means he was talking about me and you. In the end, he knew he wouldn't be able to stop us. We're gonna keep the human race going with a bunch of little walker killin' kids." "Or as Daryl would call it Lil asskickers." She says, making me laugh. "Yeah, Lil asskickers. I like that. We're gonna survive and so is our baby." I won't let anything happen to either of them. That's when I hear a scream outside. Shit. What's going on out there. We both get up. "Stay inside." I say. "But-" "Just do it. You're safer." I kiss her and open the door. People from terminus. How'd they find us?! But that's not the only thing walkers all over the place. I shoot my pistol at a walker coming after Daryl. One bit Eugene! Crap. I shoot that one. A hand on my shoulder. I spin around, dropping my gun. "I told you to stay in the rv." "I'm not a scared little kid Jason, I can fight. I will fight." "Ok but don't expect me not to be worried." I mutter, picking my pistol back up. She runs passed me throwing a knife at a walker. I'm too stunned watching her to do anything. "Jason! Look out!" She screams. "What?" I turn around to someone from terminus. A gun pointed not at me but at her! "Not on my watch!" I growl, tackling him. The gun going off. I turn back around praying she didn't get shot. "You okay?" I ask. "I should be asking you that!" She says, throwing a knife, hitting the guy behind me. I hear a feminine scream and see a walker biting Maggie. I sigh. 2 people killed during this attack now. I shoot the monster in the head. Poor Maggie. I shoot her too. By now it's gone quiet. All of terminus's people lay dead along with tons of walkers. Daryl hugs her as I walk over. "Poor Maggie." She whispers, a tear slips down her cheek. They were close. "Daryl, I've gotta tell ya somethin'." Uh oh. She's about to tell them that she's pregnant. I don't want to see his reaction so I go back to the rv. But I hear him screaming from outside.
