Merle's pov

We're scouting for a new location. We need a roof over our heads. We can't keep sleeping out in the open. Me and Daryl are looking. He kicks a rock. "I miss Rick." He mumbles, dragging his crossbow. "Man, he's out of this hell hole. I wish it was me." I grumble. He glares at me. "Don't say stuff like that." I roll my eyes.

Miranda's pov

I ran out of room in my Dixon diary. I pick up my satchel and put it in there. My eyes stumble up on my parents' wedding rings. I pick one up. "What's that?" Jason asks. "Wedding rings, they were my mom and dad's." I mumble, remember them. He sighs. "They're in a better place." He says, resting a hand on my shoulder. He smiles and takes my dad's ring, slipping it on his finger. He puts my mom's ring on my finger. "What are you doing?" I ask. He pulls me to my feet. "Like I told your brothers, this world may have been all jacked up but we need a sense of normalcy and what's more normal then proving your love to a woman." He says. I glance over his shoulder and there's a fenced in prison. "I see what you're saying." I say. He laces his fingers with mine. "Jason, look!" I gasp. He turns around seeing the prison, his hand tightens around mine. The rings click together. I smile. "We found sanctuary." I whisper relieved. He hugs me tight. "We have to tell everyone." He says. Suddenly someone grabs my arm! I hear the familiar groan of a walker. Jason covers my mouth before I can scream. "It'll just attract more." He whispers. He quietly pulls out a knife as the thing fights to get through the brambles. He stabs it in the head and the grip loosens. I breathe a relieved shaky sigh. He hugs me as I cry. "It's okay, you're safe." He whispers. "We aren't safe. None of us are safe!" I whimper. "We're all gonna die!" He grabs my shoulders, forcing me to look at him. "You aren't gonna die. Don't say that. You will survive this because I'm gonna keep you safe. Me and your hicktown brothers." He says, his eyes wide. Another walker stumbles out. He stares at it in horror then grabs my hand. We run away. "Why didn't we kill it!?" I gape. "L-Luke." He mumbles. "Luke? Who's Luke?" "A buddy of mine. I thought he survived but I guess I was wrong." He says. I sigh and grab his gun. "Wait, what are you doing?" He cries. "Jason, Luke wouldn't wanna live like that and you know it." I say gently. He nods and takes the gun. "He was my friend. I'll kill him." He says. "Not was. Is. He is your friend." I say, resting a hand on his shoulder. We walk back into the clearing where the walker is struggling to free his leg from a hole. Jason levels the gun for his head, his hand shaking uncontrollably. "L-Luke, say hey to Kasi f-for me." He tremblingly says. He lowers the gun. "I can't do it." "And you shouldn't have to." I take the gun. He hits his knees.

Jason's pov

I stare at the ground, waiting for the shot that'll rekill my best friend. Someones hand is on my shoulder. I look back and see Luke?! "Pull the trigger." He says. I stare at him miserable. "Jason, I can't work this thing!" She cries. "Goodbye Luke." I whisper, resting my hands on top of hers. I close my eyes and pull the trigger. "Thanks brother." Luke whispers, then he's gone. She hugs me. "Let's get back to camp." She says. I nod and we walk back to camp. "Anyone find anything?" Michonne asks. I was too freaked about the incident with Luke to remember. "We found a prison." She speaks up instead. "It's got walkers but I think we can take them out." She slips her hand into mine. I grip back tightly. "Guys, we're gonna make it." I say, confidently. Daryl smiles. He walks into the middle of camp. "A really good friend of mine said this. We are survivors. We fight the dead and fear the living. The only people we can trust is our family. And if someone hurts someone from this group they're gonna have to deal with me. We are a family. We call ourselves the walking dead." He says. Merle's glare turns icy. "We ain't them." He says, walking away. "No we ain't them but-" He just ignores him. "Great speech Daryl." I say as he sits down by the rv. I sit beside him. He stares at his hands. "We're more than just friends. We're brothers." He says. "I know. And she's yalls sister." I say, kinda confused. "No. Not Merle. Jason, you're my brother." He says, holding his hand out. I grasp it tightly. "Blood brothers." He nods. "We're a family and families stick together." I nod and smile. "Now let's go check out that prison." Me and Miranda lead the way. I hear shocked gasps behind me. But not for the reason I was thinking because I hear Merle whisper, "Mom and dad's rings." I stuff my hand in my pocket, hiding it. "Guys, we found us a home." Maggie whispers, hugging Hershel. We walk down to the prison when suddenly I hear a scream! I look behind me where Hershel has been bit in the leg! No! We were so close to surviving! Michonne weilds her sword and chops his leg off, making everyone scream! I'm no exception. It makes me remember having to cut Miranda's foot off with the machete. I glance down at it then see that she's balling. I hide her head in my chest so she doesn't have to see all this. Daryl holds onto Maggie. Michonne the only girl not crying wraps his leg in a T-shirt. Daryl and Merle pick him up and we run to the prison. Me and Michonne taking out the walkers. Daryl went back to comforting Maggie so T-Dog took over holding Hershel. "Stop!" A voice yells. I look up at the guard tower. A guy. "Please let us in!" Miranda cries. I shoot another walker. I hear running. Someone opens the gate but I don't see who. I grab her hand and pull her inside. The gate closes. 2 men stand in front of us. "Then names Eugene and Abraham." I nod. Her hands fall to her sides. "Baby what's- oh no!" It's Glenn!
