Miranda's pov

"Are you sure they'll still be there when we get back?" He asks, holding my hand nervously. "Well, of course, they wouldn't leave me behind." I gripe, glancing around. "Stop." I say. "What?" He gasps, caught off guard. "I said stop, you idiot." I pull him back and throw a stick. The net and barbed wire trap instantly shoots into the air. "Damn, girl, how'd you know that was there?" He gapes, staring at me shocked. I smirk. "This is more than just a pretty face." I say, making him laugh. That's when I hear the cocking of a gun. "Get down!" I cry as a bullet whizzes by and I shove him to the ground and I roll to the side. A man walks out of the woods with a gun in his hands. I instantly withdraw my gun, pointing it at him. "Who are you and what do you want?" I growl, glaring at him. "My name's Tanner. I just was afraid you guys would try to rob me." He says, terrified. I lower my gun. "It's just a trigger happy scaredy cat." I mutter, helping Jason up. "You've got really good hearing. I didn't even hear him!" He gasps, "and I'm a hunter!" I laugh. "My darling, you're looking at the only Dixon who can hunt quietly." I say. I then back to the guy. "Tanner, we ain't gonna rob ya. We're just passin' through." I tell him. "Sorry." He says. We continue on our way. His dad is standing by the front gate with a rifle in his hand. "Oh thank God Jason! We thought you were dead!" He cries, hugging him. "I'm not stayin'." He says. "What do you mean?!" He gapes. "I'm stayin' with her." He says, putting an arm around my shoulders. "Jason, you have to stay! We need you!!" He cries. He shakes his head.

Jason's pov

He rolls his pants leg up, revealing a bite mark! "D-Dad, what happened?" I gasp. "What do you think genius?! I got bit. That's why we need you! I need you to take care of your mama and sister." He says. I have to stay. I force myself not to cry. "Baby, I'm sorry, I gotta stay here." I choke out. "It's okay. I would be mad at you if you didn't stay." She says, tears in her eyes. I hug her tight. "Please stay here with me." I beg. "I can't. You know I can't. Merle and Daryl. I have to get back to them. They're my family! They're my brothers!" She cries. I sigh. I knew she couldn't stay. "I-I love you." She whispers, kissing me. "I love you too." I say. It's getting darker. "Just stay for the night. It's too dark to go now." She glances behind us. "OK. But only one night." She says. "Son, I gotta go." He says, his voice shaky. I nod and hug him. "I love ya dad. I'll take care of the girls. Don't you worry." He smiles and nods. "I know ya will." He walks off into the woods and shoots himself. I don't see it but I hear it. "Why does everyone I love either have to leave or die?" She whimpers, crying. I hug her. "That's the world we live in darlin'." I say. We walk inside. Mom and Kasi are crying on the couch. "Don't worry ma, I'll take care of you." I say, hugging them.

*later that night*

She sits on the edge of the bed crying. "Hun, if you're gonna walk back there tomorrow, you're gonna need to get some sleep." I say. "We'll never see each other again, will we?" She whimpers. I sit up and sit quickly beside her hugging her. "Now, you don't know that." I gasp. "Yes I do. Don't sugarcoat it, Jason. We're never going to see each other." She sobs. I pull her hands away from her eyes. "Don't talk like that." I say. I kiss her. "Baby, I don't know what I'll have to do. But I will find you again." I promise, kissing her again. Pretty soon, we're making out. "Don't you wanna stay?" I ask, breaking the kiss. "Of course I do, you know I do but my brothers will go crazy." She says, laying back on the pillows. There's nothing I can do to convince her to stay. One last night. Then she'll be back in the world of the dead. I lean over her so we can kiss again. I pull the blanket over us.

*the next day*

I wake up with her cradled in my arms. We did it last night. I can't let her go now. I hold her tightly. I love her so much. She can't leave me.

Miranda's pov

I open my eyes. Merle and Daryl are gonna kill me if they find out. They won't find out. "Jason, I've got to go." I say. He sighs and lets go of me. "Stay safe." He says, sadly. "You too, cowboy." I say, kissing him. He wipes my tears. "You better get going if you wanna make it before night fall." He says, standing up. I hug him and don't want to let go. "I don't have to go yet. You said you'd show me your guitar." I say. He smiles. "I did say that didn't I?" He says, kissing me. He walks over to the closet and pulls out and old looking black guitar with his name on it and a jack and ace imprinted on it. He stares at it for several seconds then sits on the bed. I sit on the floor watching him. He takes a deep breath and starts strumming the tune. "It was the summer of 89. I fell in love and I learned to drive. Me and Becky didn't waste no time, went 0 to 65 one night, bein' young was gettin' old. We were headed down a dead end road. We didn't care we were on a roll hangin' on for the ride. We were livin' for the minute lovin' every second of it. Fearless wild and free. Nothin' could stop us but one day time caught up with us and woke us up in the middle of our dream but not before she loved me." He lowers the guitar, my face streaked with tears. "Jason, that was beautiful!" I gasp. "A song off my first record." He mumbles, looking at the ground. He pulls out an old CD player and holds up a CD. "This was my second album." He says, putting the CD in. He hands me a headphone and puts one in for himself. "I'll start with the title track relentless." He says. We lay back down on his bed.

Jason's pov

We're laying right next to each other. "You're just tryin' to get me to stay." She says. I smile and shake my head. That's when the song starts up. "I toss and turn and losin' sleep can't seem to make any sense of anything." I close my eyes. "You're love is relentless!" It's been forever since I've listened to this song. We listen to music and cuddle in my bed for about 3 hours. She takes the headphone out. "I've really got to get going." She says. "I know. I'll miss you. I love you." I say, handing her her bow and kissing her. She starts to walk down the driveway while I stand in the doorway. Suddenly she stops. She turns around and runs back to me, throwing her arms around my neck and crying. I hug her tight. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. "I love you." She whimpers. We share a long warm kiss. Then she leaves.
