Jason's pov

I don't know what I'm gonna do with that girl. Half of me wishes I just left her in Atlanta but the side of me that still has humanity knows I would have hated myself.

Miranda's pov

"I just want my brothers and Glenn back!" I sob loudly. Kasi consoles me. I feel like such a wuss right now. Hell, Jason's right. I am a wuss. I can't survive out there on my own. Speak of the devil, he appears in the doorway. Kasi leaves and he sits beside me. "I'm sorry I said all that stuff." He says. "No, it's true. I couldn't survive two days on my own." I mutter. "Even if it's true, I shouldn't have said it. You are going through hell right now, not knowing what happened to your brothers and I only made it worse." He says. "Thanks, that means a lot." I whisper. He hugs me. "Now my mom's making dinner, she could use some help." He says and winks. I smile. We go out to the kitchen and I help his mom make dinner.

Jason's pov

"Maybe later you can teach me how to shoot?" She asks. "Yeah, that'll be a good idea." I say, distracted by her beauty. I never realized how cute she is. I was too worried about my family to notice anything else. The only problem if her boyfriend is still alive, I don't want to get close to her only for her to be ripped from my arms by some other guy. I avert my stare to the floor.

Miranda's pov

Jason's dad calls him so he leaves the room. His mom nudges my shoulder. "He was totally checking you out." She says. My hands freeze. "You really think so!?" I gasp. No there's no way. He comes back in the room, holding a box of peaches. "Mama, I don't know how dad does it. Even in an apocalypse, he's still able to grow the best tasting peaches known to man." He says. He tosses me a peach after setting the box down on the table. I take a bite and man he wasn't kidding. "Hot Damn!" I exclaim, "These are delicious." He smiles. "Told ya." He says, ruffling my hair. I glare at him with a smile. "How's about that target practice?" He asks. His mom waves me away with a grin. Does she still think what I think she's thinking? He holds my hand and she stifles a laugh. We go out into the yard. "I'm gonna teach you to use a bow so we don't use up our ammo." He says. I nod. "That's what my brother Daryl uses." He smiles and loads it. "It's pretty simple. Just keep the string taut and let er rip." He says, letting an arrow fly. It easily hits the target. Man, he's a natural. He hands it to me and I set my sights. He shakes his head and positions my arm a different way. He rests his hand on mine and pulls the string back with me. We let it rip together and it strikes the target on point. "YES!" I cry. He laughs. "You're a natural." He says. I hear a motorcycle in the distance. My hands fall to my sides. "Holy Fuck!" I cry, running for the road. "Whoa, where are you going?!" Jason shouts, chasing after me. He grabs my arms. "Let me go! That could be my brother! He rides a motorcycle!" I screech. He doesn't let go of me. "Lots of people drive a truck but ya don't see me chasin' every one hoping to find my friend Luke!" He gripes. I see him peek around the edge. "It's Daryl!!!!" I scream, throwing him off me. I duck under the barbed wire. "Daryl!!" I cry. He stops the cycle and gets off shocked. "Y-You're alive!" He gasps, hugging me.
