Jason's pov

I'm surprised I'm not panicking right now. She's staring at me terrified as I wrap her foot in my jacket that I took off. "You aren't gonna die." I say. "If I do-" "ya ain't. Don't worry." "Dammit boy shut up and listen to me. If I do, you have to kill me. I don't want to be those things. I especially don't want to end up killing you." She says, crying. I won't let her die. I pick her up and run as fast as I can back to the farm. My dad might be able to save her. I open the door and of course all three of my family members are completely shocked. "No time to explain. Dad, ya think you can save her?" I ask, breathing heavily. He stands up. "I-I don't know, Jason. What happened to her?" He asks. "One of the infected scratched her. I cut her foot off." I explain, reliving the horrified night. I shouldn't have even gone. She's unconscious by now. "I-I'll try." He stammers, pulling her from my arms.

Daryl's pov

I wake up from a fitful sleep. Everyone is asleep except one empty sleeping bag. Miranda's. I wake Merle up. "Where'd she go?!" He gasps, his voice choked with sleep. "I don't know!" I cry, waking the others. We comb the woods around us. I hear Glenn scream then he calls us. We run in the direction of his voice. The scene in front of us makes Shane throw up. A ton of walkers are dead, blood is everywhere but that's not what terrifies me the most. A severed foot, non mutated lay among the bodies. It's not a walker foot. It was a human foot. Merle picks it up. "It's Miranda's." He whimpers. "What?! How do you know!?" I cry, walking over. That's when I see her tattoo. In bright purple ink, written on the ankle was The Dixon Trio.

Jason's pov

I pace the room in worry. She's gotta be okay. It's all my fault. If I didn't go where they were, she wouldn't have gotten mad and yelled. Now she could die because of my stupidity. Dad walks out. "Is she okay?" I ask, worried. He sighs. "I've bandaged her foot up but I don't know if it stopped the spread of infection. She might still turn." He says, sadly. "I'm sorry." He pats my shoulder then walks away. I'm about to go in there when Kasi calls my name and walks up behind me. "Don't go in there unarmed." She says, handing a knife to me. "I never go anywhere unarmed." I say, pulling my blood stained jacket aside to reveal my (empty) pistol. "Either way, we don't kill the infected, in case they ever come up with a cure." She rolls her eyes. "Don't be stupid. Stupidity gets ya killed." She gripes, shoving the hilt into my hand. I grip it tightly, my hand shaking. "Thanks." I say. She nods and I open the door. It's like a scene from a horror movie. The sheets are covered in blood. She lay there motionless except for the rise and fall of her chest. Her soft breaths wheezy. Her hair cascades around her head. I did this to her. I caused her to get hurt and maybe die. I sigh and sit beside the bed. I remember what she said before she fell unconscious. If I do, you have to kill me. I don't want to be those things. I especially don't want to end up killing you. She doesn't want to kill me. I don't want to kill her. I don't know how I possibly will be able to. I stare at the knife in my hand. I'm so scared. I hear a soft whimper. I look up at her, hiding the knife as she groans in pain. "Miranda." I gasp. She squeezes her eyes tight then opens them. "Am I dead?" She asks. I smile. "No, of course not. I told ya I wouldn't let ya die." I say. She sits up quickly fearfully. "Daryl and Merle!" She cries, wincing in pain. I push her back down. "You have to stay calm. You'll hurt yourself more." She yanks the blanket back and screams at seeing her missing foot! "What did you do to me?!?" She screams. "Ya got scratched! It was the only
thing-" Dad cuts me off. "He saved your life!" He says. "How?" She asks. "He stopped the virus from spreading." He tells her. "So she will be okay?" I ask. "It looks like it." He says, smiling. She gets out of bed only to fall to her knees. I help her up. "I've got to find Daryl and Merle!" She whimpers, tears in her eyes. "Not until you're better. If you go out there now, you'll die." My dad says, sternly. She's no gonna listen though. I can already tell. She grabs my arm hard. "Get me outta here!" She says. "I can't. Ya gotta stay here." I say. She grabs the knife outta my sleeve. "You'll get me to my brothers or I'll do something you'll regret." She threatens. What does she mean?! What's she gonna do?! I nod to my dad and he sedates her. Her grip loosens but I catch her before she falls. "Damn you all to hell!" She whimpers before fainting. I lay her back in the bed. "I'm already there sweetheart." I mumble with a sigh.
