Y/N'S POV

"A coffee for me" The security left bowing.

As I settled into my office chair after three long years away, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. The familiar scent of freshly printed paper and the faint hum of the air conditioning felt like a warm embrace, reminding me of countless late nights spent working on projects.

I glanced around, taking in the details that had once felt so routine but now sparkled with a newfound significance.

I smiled a little remembering how I used to work here all day and night. My gaze landed on the fresh papers on my desk. My brows furrowed, I reached the papers and read it carefully. The little smile disappeared as I took the words.

Resignation letters.

Of Sara, Eva and Aria.

My lips parted, heart clenching. My throat burned in a need to cry but there were no tears in my eyes. I placed the papers on the desk, eyes darting to the front.

"Was I that bad that you guys had to resign?" I asked particularly no one.

I heard a knock at the door, Jack entered the office. Bowing, he stood in front of me, his gaze lowering.

"Are you here to resign too?" My voice barely audible with the burning sensation in my throat.

He met my gaze, "No, I'm here to inform you that you've no schedule for today, you've to look into the things and be acquainted with those then I'll schedule something for tomorrow."

I blinked, "Oh"

He motioned towards the ipad and some documents which were placed on the desk, "These are the informations and there are further things in the ipad, lemme know if you need something"

"Hmm.. Thank you" My gaze flickered between the ipad and the letters.

His eyes landed on the letters, "Won't you ask why they resigned?"

I shook my head a little as no, "It's their choice Jack, I'm no one to say or ask anything about it. They know what they're doing, If they don't want to work with me then so be it"

He hummed in response.

"Why didn't you resign?" I asked meeting his gaze.

His eyes, gentle a while ago turned serious, "Just because I work as your assistant doesn't make me less friends with you. I've promised to work with you and I don't break my promise y/n"

No words came out of my mouth, his promise sentence indicating that I broke my promise. I can't disagree with him either.

"I hope you understand" He bowed, leaving the office.

Just because Jack stayed doesn't mean he's again friends with me. He's angry, he can't show that in the office but I know he is. Everyone is leaving me, why?

Don't pretend like you don't know y/n, A voice in my mind spoke up. I sighed.

I looked up from the document when Jack came in again holding an envelope. I raised a brow at it as he forwarded it to me.
