King's POV
Leo and I didn't eat much after Uncle Ben and Dom left. I couldn't stop checking my phone, hoping to get some kind of update on what was happening, but as time passed, I started getting more antsy.
After we cleaned up the food, Leo put on a movie in the living room. I tried to enjoy it, wanting the time to go as fast as possible, but it seemed pointless. I couldn't stop getting up from the couch and walking around the house aimlessly. Moving seemed to work better for the most part, but Leo was starting to get concerned.
"Do you think everything is okay? Is it normal for them to take so long with any news?" He asked, pausing the movie and getting off the couch to stretch his arms above his head.
"I don't know. It's hard to tell. Maybe I could call and see?" I asked.
Leo shrugged, looking lost. I took out my phone, first calling Kiki since I hadn't seen her all day, hoping she knew something or had met up with them. No answer. I then called Dom. I wasn't sure if he would pick up the phone if he saw it was me, but he would tell my uncle. No answer. It had been two hours. Whatever happened with Olivia would be over by now, so I called her next, but there was still nothing. The frustration grew as I called them back, over and over again, even throwing in Tunk, who I knew didn't talk much, but at least I would understand with a grunt from him.
"Let's go for a walk then. I'm sure they're fine and busy handling the situation. Maybe some fresh air will help us relax," I suggested as I moved around the living room.
"Are you sure that's a good idea right now? None of them are answering," Leo said, looking even more worried.
"I don't know, but I can't keep sitting in this house doing nothing. That's all I've been doing for days, letting them handle it while I lay around here," I said, my voice getting louder as I paced the floor. I don't know how much more I could take in this small room, and breathing the same stale air was getting harder. "I need to go outside and clear my head," I told him as I started walking downstairs to change and get my shoes.
Leo was right behind me, talking about how maybe we should stay here for a little longer. It started to get on my last nerve as I reached my dresser.
"You're the one that suggested it first," I said, ripping a drawer open.
"Yeah, because I thought they would tell us what happened sooner. I got ahead of myself." He grabbed my hand. "I'm sorry for suggesting it. Why don't we go in the backyard and take time to breathe?"
I sighed, looking into his eyes. Freedom from this house was so close I could touch it. I knew I was being impatient, jumping before the green light, and I needed to think about what Leo wanted to do, too. Right now, he looked scared.
"I'm sorry for getting mad."
"I know you're going as steer crazy as I am, but if they aren't answering, we should wait just in case. I don't know how these things work, but I-"
Glass shattering from upstairs cut Leo's words off as we both jumped.
"What was-"
I quickly grabbed Leo, silencing him as I covered his mouth and pulled him into my arms. It was hard to hear what was going on since Leo had the habit of closing the door behind him, and I couldn't be more thankful for that now.
Something crashed on the ground, making Leo jolt in my arms. I didn't waste any more time as I kept Leo against me and moved over to the nightstand, grabbing my gun from the safe hidden on the side. Leo looked surprised, but someone upstairs started laughing as more things were being smashed on the floor, dragging our attention back to the stairs.
