"Where have you been? I've been calling you nonstop for an hour, Y/N," Minji said as you closed the hotel room door behind you.

You set your purse down before sitting down on the edge of the bed.

There was tension between you and a heavy, uncomfortable silence in the air.

"So... your divorce is finalized today, right?"

You didn't say anything in return.

"Mine was finalized a few days ago. Now that we're no longer committed to other people, we can be together."

She sat down and brushed her fingers across your thigh, hoping to get you in the mood.

"I didn't come here for that." You said as you pushed her hand away. "I came by to tell you the truth."

Her eyebrows furrowed and she looked confused as to what you could mean by the truth.

"Minji, I lied. I'm not divorcing my wife and I'm not doing this anymore."

"What? What do you mean?"

You stood up as she tried to reach for your hand.

"You said your divorce was being finalized."

"I lied, Minji!" You shouted.

"I-I don't understand. Why would you lie about that? I thought we had something amazing going on."

You shook your head wordlessly.

"You said we'd be together."

"I love my wife." You replied.

The already thick and intense silence only got worse for a moment before she burst into laughter.

"You love her? That's why you cheated on her all this time? That doesn't sound like something someone in love would do."

"Look, I made some mistakes. I'm not afraid to admit that."

"Of course, you're not afraid to admit them to me because I already know your mistakes, Y/N. The question is, are you afraid to admit that to her? Surely she doesn't know that you and I had an affair because otherwise, she probably would've filed for a divorce from you."

You just clenched your jaw in anger.

"I'm not trying to hurt you. But you're hurting me by lying to me and I divorced my wife to be with you, thinking you'd be doing the same!"

"This was a mistake. A huge mistake. I wish I could take it all back. But Minji, I can't. All I can do is keep moving forward. I love my wife and I will never leave her. I can't be with you."

"You're breaking up with me?" She asked.

Her eyes were wide and her heart was breaking but part of her also felt extremely angry.

You had lied to her about something so huge and had her believing that your wife wasn't the one you wanted to be with anymore.

She was hurt and unable to find the words to say to even begin to explain just how devastated she was.

"So we're done?" She asked as tears stung her eyes. "I can't believe you. You ruined my life!"

"You ruined your own life by starting this affair with me. It's not all on me so stop acting like it!"

She blinked away the tears before coming over to you.

"We were so good together. Why can't you leave her? I love you. I risked everything and lost so much for you, for us. You gave me a taste of true love and how amazing and fun life can be and just like that, it's all disappearing in front of my eyes..."

"I'm sorry. I did love you for a time. But I love my wife so much and I just can't risk losing her. I'm sorry."

A tear fell down her cheek and you wiped it away before kissing her cheek.

You grabbed your bag before sending her a sad smile.

"Goodbye, Minji. We're done for good now. Don't ever contact me again."

You left the hotel room and Minji suddenly felt embarrassed by the lit candles and the words of love she'd repeatedly told you.

This wasn't the first time she had watched her entire world crumble around her.

The difference this time was that she no longer had you in her life to help her believe that it would be worth it in the end.

The last time, when she watched her wife walk away, she had you.

Now it all feels worthless.

She's lost everything.
