"Years ago, the Skrull entered a war with demons," Veranke began her story.
Shadow Cain
As the shadow version of Cain traveled through ships shadows he sensed a familiar energy source, "why am I sensing Danvers, ah crap are the idiots all attacking now?" Cain asked as he followed the source of the energy he was sensing.
"A room," Cain thought as he placed aa hand on the door, it was sealed tight, luckily beings made of shadow could enter anywhere, Cain seemed to melt into a puddle of shadows which moved through the cracks and reformed shadow Cain in the room, he looked around, the room was filled with cabals and wires that were hooked up to various terminals that monitored life signs and energy fluctuations, but that wasn't it, there were also demonic sigils around the room, ones meant to seal something powerful.
Cain finally focused on the one trapped in the cabals.

"Carol," Cain whispered shocked.
"This'll make things more complicated," Cain thought as he cut her free.

The other versions of Captain Marvel across the Omniverse looked on in shock of what happened to their counterpart, it started as shock, and it quickly became anger.
How long had their counterpart been imprisoned, days, months, years, and what did the Skrull impersonating her do.
Those who knew the Kree hybrid as well as those outside the Marvel Omniverse were shocked, some others meanwhile, mainly those who have had the displeasure of having to fight the Kree hybrid were elated seeing her in chains.
For the children of Shadow Rider, seeing their would have been step mother, was quite a shock, till their minds started racing putting things together.

"Old man?" asked Rin, only for Shiro to punch him.
"Still calling me that you damn brat, I thought you'd start calling Cain your real father that now," yelled Shiro.
"Not my fault your old as fuck you fucking geezer," yelled Rin but then he and Shiro hugged.

"I know kid," said Shiro.
"Rin, this is Yuri, she's the one who gave birth to the body your soul now inhabits," said Shiro introducing the woman.
"Mom?" Rin asked.
"I'm sure you'll see her, I just gave birth to the body you inhabit, but go ahead and consider me your mom," said the woman with a smile.
"Wait, how do you know my dad?" Rin asked Shiro.
"That kid is a long story," said Shiro.
"One it's best we tell when Cain is here," said Yuri.

"If so why take her when they had just become allies to the Kree?" asked Rias.

These were the thoughts of all the children of Cain.
After all losing Carol hurt the whole family not just Cain.

As the copy made of shadows set Carol down she began to stir, and she began to cough.
With effort, Carol seemed to open her eyes she looked up at Cain as the shadows cleared from his face allowing her to see him, "Cain," she groaned.
"Sorry, I was gone so long after the peace talks, I didn't miss the wedding, how are the kids hope they didn't miss mama Carol too much," she groaned out.
"Oh no," Cain thought.

"Oh no," the kids of Cain all thought.
Marvel Omniverse 90's animated universe
Carol Danvers laid in her hospital bed and winced remembering her own time lost time, and seems her counterpart was set to be married, and gain some kids, she hoped her counterpart wouldn't break from the news of how long she'd been gone.
EMH
Ms. Marvel ignored everyone staring at her and Cain, especially Black Widow, Cain might almost be eighteen, but that didn't mean Natasha wasn't overly protective still of her godson.
Her counterpart was going to be married, she'd become a mother figure to kids, Carol always wanted a family of her own, and she was taken by the Skrulls, she felt a feeling of hopelessness wash over her, was this how Cap felt.
Then again she knew the man well enough by now, that he never lost hope, and if Cap could break free she didn't doubt her counterpart could as well, she just needed a bit of help, which she now had in the form of one savage Shadow Rider.

"So, what's with the weird shadow looking stuff all over you?" asked Carol as Cain helped her sit up.
"Right I never told you about this, I was saving it for after the wedding," Cain said.
"Some powers I gained when I was eighteen, Zarathos was actually what's called a Monarch, a very powerful godlike being, inheriting this power gave me powers over shadows, and the dead," said Cain.
"It's long and complicated we can get into it when we're out of here," said Cain.
"So what's next, break out of here, kick some ass, make it back in time for the wedding and put the kids to bed?" asked a smiling Carol.
"Carol," Cain said, he sighed, this is going to break his heart and Carols.
"The wedding was over a long time ago, you left me at the alter, and told me you didn't want to help raise my as you said, bastard children," said Cain.
"You've been gone for years," said Cain.
"What, no, no I, I'm sure it felt like that, but no," said Carol.
Cain just placed a hand to Carols head and showed her all his memories up to this point, "no, no, no, no," she growled angrily.
Shadow Cain just held Carol as she cried, a harsh glow beginning to come off her.
