(The long-awaited ending, here for you to read as a full chapter :3 !!
A lot has changed since I last updated here, but that's fine... my writing is better at least, and I promise to make this chapter less angsty then intended lol
Also, lemme know how you guys feel about a rewrite/newer ver of the book!)
_______________(Heizou POV)
We had just arrived to Fontaine, a place I'd been told would be lovely to take [name] to. It was beautiful so far, but much colder than I had expected.
The moon's rays painted the dull water with a beautiful cascade of white light, mixed with the shine of the bright stars. It was beautiful, but not as beautiful as my spouse, who sat beside me, their features glittering under the soft glow of the moon.
Their clothes were oddly elegant, a style I hadn't really seen until now. Though, I guess it made sense, when they always yearned to return to somewhere more northern. Inazuman style had never been their style anyways.
Their hair was perfectly done, with little blue streaks throughout. They'd dyed it right before we came here, insisting it would "fit the feel of the trip better". And, in a way, I suppose they were right. It looked just as perfect as they imagined it.
They even helped me pick an outfit, something vaguely Inazuman, but also fancy enough to fit the locals of Fontaine. I'd worn white before, but somehow, I could've sworn I looked better like this than ever previously. Maybe because we were matching or maybe because they helped me choose this.
Either way, I felt the best I ever had, even after the long journey here. We were sitting on a boat right now, quietly traveling down the river. They hadn't spoken this whole time, but they seemed lost in thought. Like something was on their mind.
I decided that even as their husband, I shouldn't press for answers. I'd use my intuition to make a guess, but I instead decided to allow them the privacy.
We'd continued down the river until we reached the city, where I stood up, gently grabbing their hand in an attempt to help them up. They yawned, then grabbing my hand, stepping off the boat, their head finding its way to rest on my shoulder.
We walked down the dim lit roads, the peaceful silence creating a beautiful atmosphere, enough to make anyone crack. I sighed, the noise filling the atmosphere. "[name]?"
They perked up, the sleepiness disappearing from their eyes, they yawned before responding, their quiet voice sounding like music to my ears. Unknowingly, a small smile appeared on my face as I heard them whisper out my name. Their Mondstadt accent sometimes peaked out, causing them to say my name weird sometimes.
I took a moment to regather my thoughts before asking them the question I had in mind. "[name], should we find somewhere to stay now or should we get something to eat?"
Their eyes widened and they suddenly became fully awake at the mention of food. A trick that had always worked. It's as I've learned, just mention food and [name] will immediately become completely conscious.
"So you want your food then?" As soon as I asked, they eagerly nodded. It's almost as though their eyes glittered as they thought about all the tasty food we'd eat while we were here.
Even if they left looking completely different, they'd still be my spouse, they'd still be the love of my life, and nothing could ever change that.
They were perfect. As a work partner, as a life partner, and as a friend.
[name] has changed everything about my life, and yet, I could never tell them. I'm afraid they'll return home, I'm afraid I'll never see them again...
But now wasn't time to cry, it was time to tour the beautiful land around us.
