Under the neon glow of Seoul, the city pulsed with life, a symphony of honking taxis, vibrant street vendors, and laughter spilling from cafés. In the heart of it all, Nishimura Riki—known affectionately as Ni-ki—twirled, her new silhouette catching the light. The breeze tugged at her pastel skirt, and she laughed, carefree, the sound bright against the urban backdrop.
“Niki!” Sunghoon’s voice cut through the din, his expression a mix of exasperation and fondness. “You’re going to trip!”
“No way!” Ni-ki spun again, her hair cascading like a waterfall. “I’m a pro at this!”
Sunoo leaned against a lamppost, arms crossed, a teasing smirk playing on his lips. “A pro? You’ve been practicing for what, four days?”
“Four days of freedom!” She beamed, her eyes sparkling.
Jake chuckled, shaking his head. “You know, there are safer ways to celebrate. Like ice cream.”
“Or staying put,” Heeseung added, his tone dry but his eyes warm. “You could just sit and let us pamper you.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” Ni-ki challenged, tilting her head. Her gaze flickered to Jungwon, who stood quietly, watching the scene unfold with a hint of a smile. “Jungwon, back me up here!”
“Dancing is good for the soul,” he said simply, his voice calm, but the corners of his mouth turned up. “Just be careful.”
“See? He gets it!” Ni-ki spun one last time, her laughter bubbling up like a fountain.
As the sun dipped lower, casting a golden hue over the streets, a distant sound broke the moment: the buzzing of social media notifications. Ni-ki pulled out her phone, her heart racing. The latest post from the fan café had gone live, and the comments flooded in.
“Are you ready for this?” Jay asked, stepping closer, his expression serious. “You know they’re not all supportive.”
Niki nodded, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face. “I know. But I can’t hide forever, right?”
The boys gathered around her, a protective circle.
“Whatever they say, we’re here,” Sunghoon assured, his voice firm. “You’re our princess.”
“Yeah!” Jungwon chimed in, his eyes shining. “And they don’t know you like we do.”
“Or how brave you are,” Jake added, his tone softening. “You’re owning this.”
She smiled, warmth blossoming in her chest. “Thanks, guys. I feel lucky to have you.”
The streetlights flickered on as the sky turned deep blue. Ni-ki absorbed the moment, feeling the love radiate from her friends.
“Let’s go grab that ice cream,” she said, her spirit lifting. “I need a reward for being brave.”
“Lead the way, princess,” Heeseung said, offering her his arm.
As they walked, the chatter of the city enveloped them. Laughter erupted as they debated flavors, each boy weighing in with enthusiasm.
“Mint chocolate chip?” Sunoo suggested, wrinkling his nose.
“Gross!” Ni-ki exclaimed, sticking her tongue out dramatically. “I prefer strawberry!”
“Classic choice,” Jake remarked, nodding in approval. “But I’m all about cookies and cream.”
“Can’t go wrong with that,” Jungwon agreed. “How about we get a scoop of each and share?”
Niki clapped her hands. “Perfect! It’s like a flavor buffet!”
They reached the ice cream shop, the air thick with sweet scents. Ni-ki stepped up to the counter, her excitement palpable.
“Hi! I’d like—”
“Strawberry, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip!” Sunghoon interjected, grinning as he placed the order.
“Hey! I wanted to choose!” Ni-ki pouted, feigning annoyance.
“Too slow,” Jay teased, ruffling her hair.
Their banter filled the shop, laughter spilling out into the street. They sat on a low wall outside, sharing scoops and stories.
“Remember when we had that dance-off last month?” Heeseung asked, licking his cone.
“Of course! You lost to Jungwon!” Ni-ki giggled, pointing. “I still can’t believe you tried to moonwalk.”
“Hey, that was a bold move!” Heeseung defended, mock indignation in his eyes.
“Bold? More like embarrassing!” Sunoo added, laughter erupting again.
“Okay, okay, I admit it!” Heeseung said, raising his hands in surrender. “But I’ll get revenge next time.”
“Sure you will,” Jake said, shaking his head. “We’ll see about that.”
As they finished their ice cream, the conversation shifted.
“Are you ready for your first fan meet?” Jungwon asked, his voice serious now.
Niki’s smile faltered. “I’m nervous. What if they don’t like me?”
“Forget them,” Jay said, his tone fierce. “You’ll shine. Just be yourself.”
“What if I stumble on my words?” she pressed, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.
“Then we’ll fix it,” Sunghoon said, his gaze steady. “You’ll have us right there.”
“Always,” Jungwon added softly, and she felt the weight of their support.
The night crept in, stars twinkling overhead. Ni-ki took a deep breath, her heart steadying. “Okay. I can do this.”
Suddenly, her phone buzzed again. She checked it—a barrage of comments, some loving, others harsh. Her heart sank.
“Hey, don’t look at that now,” Heeseung said, leaning closer. “Focus on us.”
“Yeah, we’re the real deal,” Sunoo chimed in.
“Let the haters hate,” Jake said, his voice firm. “You’ve already won by being you.”
Niki nodded slowly, feeling the truth in their words. “Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it.”
“Always,” Jungwon repeated, a gentle smile on his lips.
Days turned into weeks. The fan meet approached, tension mixing with excitement in the air. Each boy took turns checking in on Ni-ki, their presence a constant reassurance.
“You ready?” Sunghoon asked one morning, his hands stuffed in his pockets, casual but attentive.
Niki paced back and forth, her heart racing. “I don’t know! What if they hate me?”
“Just breathe. You’ve got this,” he encouraged, stepping closer. “We’ll be right there.”
She paused, locking eyes with him. “Promise?”
“Promise.” His gaze was steady, unwavering.
Finally, the day arrived. Ni-ki stood in front of the mirror, wearing a shimmering outfit that hugged her new form perfectly. Her heart thudded in her chest.
“Niki!” The boys burst into her room, their energy filling the space.
“Wow,” Jake breathed, his eyes widening. “You look amazing.”
“Like a star,” Sunoo added, grinning.
“Are you ready?” Jungwon asked, his voice calm but filled with encouragement.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” she said, taking a deep breath.
The venue buzzed with anticipation. Fans lined up, a sea of eager faces. Ni-ki’s heart raced as she stepped onto the stage. The lights blazed, and she squinted, searching for her friends. There they were, standing off to the side, their smiles a beacon.
“Hey, everyone!” Ni-ki’s voice rang out, echoing in the space. “Thank you for being here!”
Cheers erupted, and she felt her confidence surge. She shared stories, answered questions, and laughed at their jokes, each moment weaving a bond between her and her fans.
“Do you have a favorite color?” someone shouted from the crowd.
“Pink!” Ni-ki replied, her eyes sparkling.
“Do you love ice cream?” another voice chimed in.
“Absolutely! Especially strawberry!” She grinned, recalling their ice cream adventure.
As she spoke, she caught glimpses of the boys, their encouragement grounding her. She felt powerful, embracing who she was.
“Okay, I want to ask you all something,” she said, her heart pounding. “What do you think about change?”
A pause filled the air, the question hanging heavy.
“Change is good!” a fan shouted.
“Embrace it!” another echoed.
Niki’s heart soared.
“Thank you! You all make me feel so supported,” she said, her voice thick with emotion.
The applause thundered, filling her with warmth. She smiled, her heart brimming with gratitude.
Once the meet ended, she rushed off stage, breathless.
“Niki!” Heeseung enveloped her in a hug, lifting her off the ground. “You did it!”
“You were amazing!” Sunghoon beamed, his eyes shining.
“See? You’re a star,” Jay added, pride lacing his voice.
Niki laughed, the sound bubbling up uncontrollably. “I couldn’t have done it without you guys!”
“Of course not,” Jake said, his tone teasing. “You’d be lost without us.”
“Don’t you forget it!” she retorted playfully, her heart lighter than air.
As they celebrated together, the worries of the past faded into the background. They danced in the middle of the street, laughter ringing through the night, echoing against the tall buildings.
“Let’s get ice cream!” Jungwon suggested, his eyes bright.
“Always ice cream!” Ni-ki agreed, her heart so full.
“Strawberry for you, mint for me!” Sunoo declared, grinning.
They set off, a constellation of friendship illuminating the night. Ni-ki felt alive, surrounded by love, laughter, and the promise of tomorrow.
In that moment, she knew change was not to be feared, but embraced. And with her boys by her side, she could face anything the world threw her way.𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲:
