I was getting ready for a girls night with Aria, even though its a lame Wednesday. We were going to see an old movie downtown and the staying at her apartment. I needed to tell her that me and Ashton were kind of a thing now. I don't know what to call it. We're best friends that like one another more and we're going with the flow. Aria still needed to know.
The hotel room was starting to drive me insane. I needed to get a real apartment soon. That was my ticket away from claustrophobia and a starting to be very musky hotel room. I am grateful, just done with the hotel. I'm ready for my own apartment by now.
I getting ready. I dressed comfy in boot cut jeans, a big sweatshirt, and my old running sneakers. That is another thing I need to do. Go running soon.
I hear a knock at the door and it must be her. I swing it open, only to find Ashton. I pull him in the room and shut the door.
"She's going to be here! I still have to tell her!" I whisper-shout.
"Wha-oh! Then I'll leave, but..." He says and grins. He wraps his arms around my neck, pulls me in, and kisses me. It's our third kiss.
"Our date is Friday night after your poetry night." He says and kisses my cheek. He opens the door and we see Aria on the other side.
"Ashton! Get out its girls night!" She shouts. Good. She didn't hear or see anything.
"Alright! Alright!" He says and smiles at me.
"Bye!" I shout.
"Why were you even here?" She asks and I can see he gets nervous. Lucky for him, I'm pretty good at talking my way out of things.
"He wanted to know if I wanted to go running tonight because I haven't been in awhile.'' I say and he looks at me impressed. I try not to smile too big.
"Oh. Lame! We're going to an old movie downtown." She says and I laugh.
"Alright bye guys." Ash says and turns away from my door. It takes some serious will power not to kiss him again.
"Ready to go to the movie?" I ask.
"Yeah! It starts in 12 minutes!" She shouts.
"Alright lets go." I say.
We head out to her car and I notice Ashton's is still in the front of the hotel. As soon as I hop in, she plugs in her phone and blasts whatever she has saved on spotify. We listen to My Chemical Romance, Imagine Dragons, Green Day, Fun, and Of Monsters and Men.
We get to the movie place right on time and see The Birds which is supposed to be horror, but because of the old age and poor animation, it had the audience in hysterics through some points of the movie. Which shows people, how much films have changed.
My moment of truth comes when we get to her apartment. I sit down on her couch and my nerves are actually kind of funny and freaking out. It's like an elephant is playing hopscotch in my stomach.
"Uh, Aria?" I start.
"Uh, yeah?" She says mimicking my nervous tone.
"Well, you know Ashton-"
"No shit sherlock." She laughs.
"Well, you're one of my best friends and I want to tell you because I don't want to keep a secret and I don't know really how to say this, but it shouldn't be this hard. It really shouldn't, but I'm not sure how you'll-"
"GET ON WITH IT." She shouts.
"Well, Ashton is another one of my best friends and he's fun, creative, and just amazing. And-"
"You like Ashton! This is perfect! I'll set you guys up. Jacob can help. It can be like a blind date, but you'll know."
"No, well we-"
"What to you mean no?"
"Well, you see I'm trying to tell you that we have a date. Its on Friday, after poetry night. And we've kissed about 3 times and are close to each-other a lot." I say and she seems distracted.
"Uh, Aria?"
"I'm just happy." She says and I feel relieved.
"Alright, honestly I'm kinda tired and I have to work tomorrow." I say.
"Yeah me too."
"Well, I'm gonna try and sleep. Goodnight." I say and lay down on her couch. I pull the blanket off the back and snuggle up. I think she left.
"Hey Rachel?" Guess not.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want me to help you buy an outfit for your date?"
"Sure." I laugh.
"Okay I'll leave you alone." She laughs.
I snuggle in on her couch and start to fall asleep. I wasn't nervous. I knew Ashton wouldn't overdo it and even if he did, it wouldn't matter. I had a date with Ashton.
