It's early. I have to go to work. As I crawl out of bed Ashton grabs my arm. I weasel out of the grip and get my clothes off the dresser I set them on last night. I took a deep breath.
I wasn't really that ready to go to work. I looked back at Ashton who had fallen back asleep. His job was pretty calm anyways. The guy he gives the pictures to had called him, gave his condolences, and told him he had an extra month to get the pictures in that were due this week. Knowing Ashton's ambition, he would finish it this week anyways.
I showered, put my hair in a braid, and got dressed. It was Monday. Big coffee day. I checked the clock. 5:00am. I was on my usual schedule. The only problem moving in with Ashton was the walk to .work was longer. Meaning I had to jog the last 10 minutes if I was running late. This morning I was right on time, so enjoyed my walk. I'm going to start bringing my camera and taking pictures of the city around me. I had to start sending pictures to Aunt Mary. She's been asking for them. I expect a call sometime this week about it. Maybe two knowing her super persistence toward things she wants.
Even though I hadn't lost a person, I did lose something. Ashton wasn't really himself. When he is with me, he is usually very quiet or even silent the entire time. It's like he wants me there, but wants to be alone at the same time.
I finally arrived at work after my morning think tank session and actually felt better. It was like a happier aura came over me. Eliza smiled when I walked in. Dan came from around his corner. I hadn't seem them for awhile, but it was nice to know they missed me.
"Why are YOU here?" Eliza says and smirks so I realize she's joking.
"Yeah. Why?" Dan tries to play along, but honestly fails at it.
Eliza and I laugh at him. He just laughs along not thinking we are laughing at him. Dan was blind that way sometimes. The coffee shop doesn't open for another 30 minutes, so I make a mocha iced for all of us. I'm surrounded by at least some of my friends and these ones are happy. I can honestly say it's good to be back.
