Okay, I was late to my own event at the coffee house. I wanted to go home and get something nice on. I had decided to read something I wrote tonight and I had to change a few details in it. I was reading it out loud. I also had to wear something nice, so I put on tight black jeans and a white ruffles blouse. I put on black flats as well. Even though they are kind of uncomfortable, they looked really nice.
I walked into the room and they had not started yet because Dan wanted to wait for me. Nice Dan. Great decision. Now all these people presenting their work would be mad at me. They didn't show their anger, however, when I walked in. They just smiled and I lined them up to go on stage. I put myself at the end area because most would leave by then.
After I place everyone, I take a seat with Aria, Jacob, Eliza, Sterling, and Cole. He was nice enough to come. He did say yes earlier in the week after our date. Well, not really a date seeing we decided to be friends. I thought he wouldn't come, though, because it would be awkward. He stuck to his word, and that showed he would be a good friend.
We get toward the end and I stand up to get in line with the other presenters. Dan comes out from his room and smiles at me, encouraging me. My prediction was right. Most of the guests are gone already. The only people left are the ones at my table and people who came to see the two people in front of me. There is one person in the back by themself. I almost asked them to sit with us, but figured they wanted to be alone. My turn comes as the girl before me stands from the stool. I take a deep breath because this is about Ashton. I've kept my feelings generally private until now. I need to talk about them somehow.
"Sometimes a person leaves you like a summer breeze. They blow away right when you appreciate them most. Right when you care about them most, they let go. Some of them don't fight for you like in the movies. Some of them don't chase after you. Some make you believe they will, but they don't. Some of them will freely let you walk out the door. Some of them will let you love them with all your heart and when it's over, you never know if they loved you. You'll never know if you were just a time filler. Were you just an object? They had to care, didn't they? They loved you back, right? You'll never know because when they had to step up, they let you leave. They got so angry with the situation, they didn't care that you left. They didn't care what happened. And what hurts most, you had to go through everything to only find out that they never loved you as much as you love them. They never cared like you did. And they wouldn't have. Because sometimes love is just a mess. Loving him was beautiful until the end. Loving him was one of the best memories I will ever have. I love him still and always will."
I look up and realize I started to cry a bit. I wipe my eyes. Everyone claps. I say thank you and walk back to my table of friends. Aria hugs me first and then everyone joins in a group hug. Even Cole joins us. We leave the hug and then a person approaches me. I believe it's the guy from the back. He comes and hugs me before I can even make eye contract. He had his hood up, so I could barely see features before.
"That was heart breaking. I'm so sorry." He whispers in my ear.
"Do I know you?" I ask very confused and still a bit worked up from reading to the crowd.
"Sadly, you do." He says choking. He's crying?
He turns around and runs out of the coffee shop. Who was that? He had his hood up and he had sunglasses on. What the hell? I chase after him. Anyone who knows me, knows I can run. I caught up with him and pulled the hood down. The jerk of the hood caused the glasses to fall as well. The guy wiped his eyes with his hands. I looked at the back of his head. I knew exactly who it was. It was Ashton and he just heard everything in there. My face flushed in pure embarrassment. Ashton knows I love him and I don't even know if he ever loved me.
