I meet Cole downstairs at 9pm. I was dressed in dark wash denim shorts and a white laced shirt. Everyone was heading to the bar Cole and I stopped at last night. We wanted to do karaoke and all hang out. Plus, I could see the coffee house's competition. We could definitely get a karaoke machine to boost business. We could even think of opening on Saturday nights for a party night.
Cole and I head off to the bar. Aria and Jacob are already there, sitting at the counter. We head over to them. Eliza walks in minutes after us with Sterling following. They come by us and order drinks. Ashton is the last to walk in. I feel funny when he does, but ignore the feeling. He then surprises me by coming up and kissing me in the middle of our friends. Eliza even cheers. Weirdo.
That was strange, though. Ashton hates public displays of affection. I do too. It's awkward enough holding hands in public, let alone kissing in front of your friends.
We all sit at a big round table in the back. Ashton sits next to me and Aria on my other side. Cole and Ashton get caught up in some conversation I don't pay attention to. Eliza and Sterling head back to the bar, obviously bored with the rest of us. Everyone is too mellow. I whisper an idea in Aria's ear.
"Wanna do karaoke?" I ask.
"Sure. What do you wanna sing?"
"Lets go look at the list."
We scan the list and pick the song Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. Everyone knows it and we just wanted to get the night started already. It was 11 o'clock and nothing had happened yet. We ask Eliza to join us, but of course she's too cool for us. We hop on the stage and start goofing around. Jacob smiles at her and starts laughing like crazy. That makes Aria wink at him, so I redirect my attention to Ash. He's laughing at me too. Eliza runs up on stage with us halfway through the song and finishes it with us. When we finish, we get applause from our group and the karaoke guy. We walk back to the table to be made fun of. Who cares? We had a blast on stage.
"Very nice voices girls." Cole says sarcastically and laughs at us some more.
"At least we know how to have fun at a bar." I say and get 'Ohhhhs' from the girls.
"Really? Lets make a bet. Who can get more applause from the audience, guys or girls?" Jacob says.
"Fine. Are the guys in?" Eliza says.
"Yes/Yeah/Yup." They all say. Even Ashton volunteers to hop on stage.
I go up to the Karaoke guy and tell him to announce our contest and other people can join if they want. We end up gaining three girls from the counter whose names are Olivia, May, and Alex. They are from the apartment complex down the street past mine and all rent together. Three girls in one apartment! The guys also gain a member. His name was Oliver and he was May's boyfriend. We talked him into joining the guys team.
The guys sing We Are The Champions by Queen. Cliché Losers. They do get a lot of applause from the audience, though. Mainly because the audience is full of girls and we all have some nice looking guys up there. Also, the guys were crazy onstage. They were having fun and jumping around, dancing to the popular song.
Then, it was the girls turn. We picked a real winner. We chose Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper. That was a blast! The girls definitely got more applause. Sadly, the person running the Karaoke machine was a guy, so he called it a tie! We knew we were the real winners.
We made the guys get up on stage once more. We were doing both the guys and the girls all on stage together. We picked the song Oath by Cher Lloyd. I didn't tell the guys, but that was the best song we sang. I had the most fun performing that one. We were all dancing on the stage together. It's a song about your best friends and I had a bunch of them.
