Anniversary dinners were the worst of all. At least that's how I saw it. You had to compete for the best gift. I knew what he wanted, but nothing would be as good as what he gave me last Friday.
I got him a Polaroid camera off of Amazon because he has been talking about buying it for weeks. He came home last night all pissed off because "someone" had stolen it from him. I had to bite my tongue not to tell him I bought it. He would definitely love the Polaroid.
Back to dinner talk, we are going to that restaurant that he meant to make reservations at on our first date, but forgot. I was just happy to be going to dinner with him. After dinner he had one of his Ashton famous surprises. I couldn't wait for that. I missed his big surprises.
We left the house at around 5 for the dinner reservations. We got the check and both decided next time, pizza is not an issue. I was surprised how much two plates of pasta and two pieces of cheesecake was!
Finally, the surprise was upon us. We hopped into his car and he made me put a bandana over my eyes.
"I'm never going to be able to find these places if you keep making me cover my eyes all the time." I groan and he laughs at me.
"That's the point. They're my surprises."
I feel the car stop and him get out. Great. I was alone for the time being. Then I feel the door open and he throws me over his shoulder. I start laughing. After about 5 minutes I'm trust onto my butt on the ground. It feels like foliage and rocks. I continue to laugh. I feel him sit beside me and pull the knot loose. In realize I'm on the end of a cliff. I scoot back away from the edge.
"Don't look at the bottom. Just look across at other areas." He says and pulls me back by my arm. I follow his instructions.
"Wow." I breathe and look at the horizon in front of me. The sun is just below the line, causing the top of the sky to be purple and the rest to be an ombre of orange and pink.
"How do you find these places?" I ask, still in awe.
"I make my way around. And what's more, I brought our cameras." He says and reaches in a bag.
"Well, I have a gift." I say and reach into my purse. I pull out the Polaroid. He smiles big and takes it from my hands.
"I thought someone else got it!" He shouted.
"Nope. I bought it for you-" he interrupted me with a kiss causing my insides to go crazy.
"Thanks." He said and stared at his new camera.
"There's film in it right now too." I say.
As soon as I finished talking, he started taking pictures on his new Polaroid. I began doing the same with my own camera.
I had no idea where we were, but I honestly didn't care. I was having fun. If I wanted to leave, we could and we would. But I didn't want to. In fact, I could stay in this moment forever. Our shoulders were touching, we were getting lost in the pictures we were taking and it was beautiful here. Nothing could make me feel brighter. I feel so good, it's crazy. I know I'm smiling like an idiot because I feel Ashton stare at me. Let him stare. I have nothing to lose.
