First Dates and Poems

I woke up early this morning and lay my date outfit on my bed. Aria and I went out last night to get my outfit, that actually wasn't that necessary. I had clothes here, but she said it should be special. It was a tan lace dress with some black pumps she loaned me. I didn't really like pumps, but these were nice.

We had a few people coming tonight to read poems. Most of them were the same people from last week. We had one new person. We had 8 people reading poems, and that was fine by me. There were a lot of people that just came to watch.

It was 8 now and all the poets were here. Aria and Jacob were on time, as usual and Dan gave me the rest of the night off.

I ran to the hotel, got my date outfit on, and ran back to the coffee shop. There were still 5 people left to read. I say with Aria and Jacob, and Ashton still wasn't there by 7pm. Aria gave me a funny look. There were still 3 people left to read. Leave it to Ashton to be late for our first date.

It's 7:10 and there's 1 person left. I look around the room and then I see him in the corner. I motion to Aria and she has a big grin. I say bye to them and walk over to him.

"Hey! There you a-you look nice!" He says and grins.

"Thanks, so do you. Dan gave me the rest of the night off, so I can go whenever." I say and rest against the wall near him.

I feel him grab my hand and my face flushes. His fingers rested with mine. All of a sudden he stepped forward and pulled me out the door with him. I hopped in his car and he started driving wherever. I wasn't going to ask. He would just say it was a good surprise he wasn't going to ruin. I was really excited.

We got to a restaurant somewhere that was 20 minutes away and he told me to stay put. He walked around and opened my car door. He helped me out and my stupid heel slipped, but I fell and rested on him.

"Sorry." I laughed awkwardly.

"It's okay." He said and helped me back.

"I hate heels." I said and he laughed.

"You should have brought different shoes."

"Aria's idea." I said and he laughed.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close. I felt my lips curve into an involuntary smile and I moved in sync with him. He stopped at the door and opened it for me.

"What a gentleman.'' I joked and he just smiled and returned to putting his arm around me. We walked in and the place was crowded. He must have made reservations because there was no way we are getting in now.

"Shit." He mumbled.

"Hm?"

"I'll go talk to the guy." He smiled and rushed to the front. He came back with an angry and worried face.

"They forgot my reservation. Lets go somewhere else." He says and nearly pushes me out the door.

"You forgot to make reservations, didn't you?" I ask.

"I didn't know you had to." He says embarrassed.

"It's cool. I like pizza anyway." I said and he smiled.

He took my hand in his and swayed our arms until we reached his car. Just as I let go, he pulled me into a kiss. It was a quick kiss, but I shivered and felt it still after. My cheeks heated and I turned and went to the passenger side.

We ended up going to a Sabaro's pizza place. I thought those were only in New England. Ash told me they were all over the west coast and that made me perk up a bit. It would be one familiar thing I could have here besides a crappy McDonald's and an old Wendy's. Don't get me wrong, I love fast food, but not 24/7.

We both got two slices each from the counter and decided to split a soda. I picked a booth in our usual scenery, back corner, while he paid. I waited for him to get back and he sat next to me, not on the across.

"If you don't mind..." He starts.

"No, actually I like it. I don't get why someone always has to sit across from the table. You're closer next to eachother." I say and he smiles.

I feel a peck on my cheek.

We finish our pizza and he drags me out to the car. He goes to open the door for me, but shuts it. I look at him funny as he takes my hands and pulls me into a hug. I hug back, enjoying how close we are. We break from the hug and I reach for the handle. He snakes in front of me and kisses me, then runs to the drivers side and gets in. I'm still in a bit of shock.

I get in the car and he drives me to the hotel. He came around the car again and opened the door.

"I'll walk you in." He said and smiled.

"Alright." I laugh.

This time I take his hand. I feel him slightly jump and then he grips it tighter. We walk slowly to my room and when we reach the door, he pulls me into a hug. We stay there for several minutes. I look up at him and kiss him.

"So, did you like it?" He asks.

"The kiss or the date?"

"Both."

"Yeah. Both." I smile and he kisses my cheek. I unlock the door and turn the handle.

"Goodnight." I say.

"Goodnight."

I throw myself on the bed and cover my blushing face with a pillow. I feel like a teenage girl with raging hormones of happiness. I bite the pillow and try to make my stupid grin go away, but it won't. All I can hope is that whatever we have will work out.
