I took my lunch break at the coffee shop to meet up with Ashton. I didn't know where we were now. Were we really a couple again? We're in the middle really. I hadn't seen him since the Karaoke night. That was about two weeks ago. I haven't talked to him either. He's on my mind all the time, but nothing is happening right now.
He's sitting in a pizza place waiting for me. He's looking around. I don't move until he sees me. He smiles and waves from the table.
"Hey." I say when I get in.
"Hey, how have you been?"
"Busy. How about you-"
"Okay forget the small talk crap. Lets just talk about what's going on with us as a couple." He says and I feel relieved he brought it up first.
"I don't know what's going on." I say.
"Me either." He says and we both laugh to clear the air.
"Well, do you want to be together again?"
"I wish it was that simple."
"Why isn't it?"
"Because you let me leave before. How do I know you wouldn't do it again?"
"You don't." He says and I stay silent.
"But I know I won't let you leave again. Not ever." He says and smiles at me.
"Is that supposed to be romantic."
"No. I don't like you." He says with a serious face.
"You scared me for a second there." I say and laugh.
"It's my job." He says.
"Gross, are you flirting with me?" I tease and he blushes.
"No."
"Ew!" I say and he laughs.
We eat our pizza and enjoy our time together. Soon enough, I have to head back to work. We split the check and he walks me back to the coffee house.
"Didn't you leave your car parked back there?" I ask.
"I could use the fresh air and the walk with you."
