Chapter Twenty

Evelyn's pov

I walk through the hallway to my locker. For the first time, nobody has been staring at me. Liam had to go to the dentist, so I walked to school this morning. Liam isn't next to me, so no one is looking. It truly is just about Liam.
'EVE!' I turn around and see Eleanor. She hugs me.
'How are you doing?' she asks me.
'I'm fine, just enjoying my morning without stares. It's different. How are you?' I ask her back.
'I'm good. Louis and I are talking again. I kind of miss him' she says. I frown.
'I thought you were with Niall?' she shakes her head.
'No, we're just friends. Besides, he likes Amy' she says. I smile and nod. Last time I saw Louis was about a month ago. I haven't heard Eleanor about him once. Maybe because so much was going on that we didn't pay attention to things like that. Eleanor and I walk to class. Right before I sit down, I see a familiar face. Thom. He smirks at me. I just roll my eyes.

I'm standing in front of my locker when it's lunch break. Suddenly, someone covers my eyes with their hands. I panic and start to push myself off.
'Wow, babe, relax, it's me' I turn around and see Liam. I sigh in relief and hug him close.
'I'm sorry, I didn't think it through' Liam says. I just hug him tighter.
'I can't believe I'm so scared all the time. This isn't how I want to live' I tell Liam. He nods and looks sad.
'We'll get through it babe' when he says babe, I smile. It's cute.
'I just want to be happy and not scared' I tell Liam. He sighs.
'Aren't you happy with me?' he asks.
'You're the only happy thing in my life Li. I'm really happy with you' I kiss him softly. The bell rings, telling us that we have classes. We have history together so we walk  towards class. We sit down and wait for the teacher to start class. I see Cassie walking in and she smiles at us. She looks good. Most people didn't know about her. Off course Danielle managed to know it. She sits down next to someone. The teacher walks in and starts class. I try to concentrate, but it's just not working. Then someone walks into class with a note. She gives it to the teacher and walks away again.
'Liam Payne, you need to go to the principal' he says. Liam looks confused, so do I. But then he just grabs his stuff and walks away. I wonder why. He didn't know anything wrong. I look around the class and Cassie is looking at me. The others aren't, luckily. Cassie just looks as confused as I do. I just try to listen to class again, but it's not really working. What is going on ?

After class, Cassie and I try to call Liam. He isn't answering and isn't in school.
'I'll go to the principal. I live with him, I need to know where he is' I tell Cassie. She nods and I walk towards the principal. I knock on his door and walk in.
'Evelyn, what can I do for you?' he asks me.
'Well, I'd like to know where Liam is'  I say.
'I'm sorry, I can't tell you' he says.
'But sir, I live with him now. I need to know if something is wrong' he frowns now.
'You live with him ?' I nod.
'Ever since my parents died' his face softens.
'He is at the hospital. His mum was in an accident' my eyes widen.
'Don't worry, she'll be alright. You can go as well. I have a feeling she is the closest you have to a mother right now' I nod and walk away. I almost run to the exit. The hospital is around 15 minutes by car away from here. But I don't have a car. I see a bus and run to it. Luckily, the bus stops at the hospital as well.

After 20 minutes I'm walking in the hospital. I asked where Karen is and they gave me directions. I walk into the room and see Liam sitting next to the bed. Karen is asleep. His face lights a bit up when he sees me. He hugs me close.
'He's a dead men' Liam whispers. I frown and look at him.
'First you, then your parents, then Cassie and now my mum. I don't care what the others want to do. It's over. I need to do something against it' he says. He sits down again, like he just said the most normal thing.
'What do you want to do then?' I ask him.
'I don't know, kill him I guess' my eyes widen. He looks at me, his face the most serious I've ever seen him. He seriously want to do this.
'You can't ! You'll go to jail Li'
'I don't care. He killed your parents, he killed Cassie's baby and almost my mum. I'm done Eve' I sigh. He made up his mind. But I can't let him do this.
'We'll do it together' I say. He looks at me.
'No way in hell. You're not going to kill someone' he says.
'Then I guess you won't either. I'm not letting you do that' I say. He sighs. He is frustrated, but I don't care. I need to protect him.
'So you want me to just sit here, and not doing anything?' he asks me.
'No, I think we should go to the police. They will get him and it will be over' he shakes his head.
'They won't. There is three of them. And we don't have prove. We only know it because of the texts' I sigh. And off course, my phone starts buzzing.

Hello Beautiful,

You know what I said about the police right ? Don't do it. I will get my revenge. And by the way, tell your boyfriend that he has a choice. He can join us again, or his mum will die, like yours.

'Li ? Read this' I give him my phone. Tears start to form in my eyes. Him joining means him doing stuff he doesn't want, and I know for a fact that we won't see each other again. But him not joining means his mum dying.
'They want me to choose between you and her?!' Liam is getting really mad. I nod.
'That's it. He's dead'
