After hours

Chapter 24

We decide to have a service for Nathan. I was really reluctant about it, but I decided that this was what's best.

A lot of people came. It was kind of embarrassing crying in front of everybody. I couldn't help it. My baby was dead.

"Hey," Alyssa says flashing me a small smile and hugging me. She goes on to her seat. There were people I didn't even know coming to hug us and say that their sorry.

I sit with my face buried in Jacobs chest almost whole service.

"Come on, let's go home." Jacob says standing up and extending his hand. I took it trying to wipe my eyes.

The ride home was silent, except for me crying. I collapse onto the bed in uncontrollable sobs. Jacob was there immediately.

"I'm sorry," I finally choked.

"It's okay," he tells me brushing my hair away from my face.

My whole world is crumbling down. My little baby, my sweet baby, Nathan is gone. My lovely Jacob has cancer. The only good things in my life are my two bundle of joys and my family isn't dead.

"Jacob." I call weakly.

"What is it?"

"I want to go back to work."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"Yes, it is I need to do a surgery. I need my mind off of this horrible thing. Even if it's only for a couple of hours."

"Do you wan time to call and see if there's a surgery you can do?"

"Yes, please."

A hour later I have showered and tried to pull myself together as best as I could.

"Hey." Alyssa says flashing me a smile.

"Hey, what surgery am I doing?"

"You're not doing one you're coming with me."

"What?"

"Come on." She drags me to the resident lounge, we get our stuff and walked out the hospital doors.

"Where are you at taking me?"

"You'll see."

The whole drive was silent. Finally we pull up to the beach.

"Why are we at the beach?"

She doesn't answer she just gets out of her car and opens the trunk.

She grabs a cooler and her beats pill speaker and started walking to an empty dock.

Not knowing what to do I follow her.

She plops down and turned on Lana del Rey music.

Opening the cooler, without saying a word she poured two glasses of tequila.
