After hours

Chapter 29

"Tomorrow is your first day back to work. Are you excited?" I ask Jacob as he gets into bed.

"Very excited. I need to do a surgery, the last one I did was yours. Hopefully it will be easier than that one."

I got my cast off and am now just in a brace during the day, so I can take it off at night.

"Evi, you have got to stop wearing those, I think your doing it on purpose now." He says climbing on top of me.

"Would you prefer I wear nothing at all?"

"Always." He says matter of factly.

I laugh and kiss his lips. "You're the one you said no sex, not me." I grin pushing him off of me and climbing under the covers.

"Haha, very funny. I see your plan. Just for another week, then you can go back to work and we can have all the sex you want." He laughs pulling me close.

I'm awakened my Jacobs alarm. Man do I not miss this part of my job, waking up at 5 o'clock everyday.

He groans and gets up. "Wait, kiss me goodbye so I can go back to sleep." He does just that and I'm out like a light.

I wake up around ten on my own. I put on my brace and make breakfast/ dinner.

Jacob took the girls to daycare so I'm all alone.

Do I dare see what they are saying about me on Doctors Inside? Eh, I have nothing else to do.

This morning on Doctors Inside. So I'm sure you've all heard about the car accident that almost killed Evangelina Stevens West. Well she is almost fully recovered and is back at home. Meanwhile source found out yesterday that Jacob West is cancer free and going back to work. Today is his first day source says. Well that's all for today on Doctors Inside, see you next week!

That wasn't that bad.

Now what am I going to do until Jacob gets home today?

I clean the house, take a shower, paint my nails. I'm eventually so bored I start online shoe shopping, that's never a good sign.

I buy a new pair of Louboutin's hopefully Jacob won't be that mad.

I get a text from Alyssa saying her shift just ended and she is coming over.

"Hey she says coming through the door."

"What's up?"

"Well, I wanted to tell you that Justin and I are officially boyfriend and girlfriend!"

"That's so great, I'm so happy for you!"

"Yeah, well I really like him, I might even love him." She jokes.

"Alyssa, I don't snag you they hurt. He's kind of know to be a player, you know not really wanting to settle down."

"Well then he's changed because that's not all, he asked me to move in with him!"

"Don't you think it's a little too soon for that?"

"Oh calm down Ms. I got pregnant on the first date."

"Hey! It's was not the first date!"

"Whatever, can you please just be happy for me?"

"I am, I promise. I'm very happy for you- what if you get to be my sister! Oh my gosh you have to get married!"

"I know right!" She laughs and hugs me. "I hope I get to be your sister."

"Just be carful okay," I ask.

"I will, I gotta go I haven't slept in 48 hours."

"Okay, keep me updated."

"I will, love you."

The rest of the day goes by agonizingly slow. Around six I decide to start dinner, Jacob gets off at six thirty.

I set the table just time time to hear the door open.

It's weirdly quiet, the girls aren't loud like they normally are.

"Hey," Jacob says carrying Nikki and Scarlett on each arm. "They're both sick, I have their medicine in the car."

"Awe, with what?" I say grabbing Nikki from him.

"The flu."

We lay them both on the couch and turn on a Disney movie.

"How was your first day back?"

"It was pretty good. I had a heart transplant, it went smoothly."

"How was your day, what did you do?"

"Nothing really, Alyssa came over after her shift was over. You'll never guess what she's about to do."

"What?"

"She's moving in with your brother."

"What? I thought he wasn't into anything serious."

"I thought that too, but I guess he's changed or something. Apparently they are in love, they just haven't said it yet."

"Woah, that's crazy. I might have to investigate more on that."

"Tell me more about your day at work."

"It was really slow. There wasn't really anything on the OR board, besides my heart transplant. Your fill in doctor is annoying, she gives a lot of hugs and is overly happy."

"Did she give you a hug?"

"I politely told her no because I'm a married man, this body is only for you."

"You did not." I laugh.

"I did too!"

"That's so embarrassing."

"It is not! You should be happy I don't let her give me a hug, she was kinda hot."

"Hey!" I slap him.

He bursts out in laughter.

"I'm just kidding. You know you're the only one I look at."

"I know." He kisses me on the lips.

I hear a faint cry.

"I'll go, you eat the rest of your dinner." I tell him.

I pretty much excepted the fact that I was going to be sick anyways, so I slept with them in the guest bedroom.

And I was right, by morning I was sick too.
